I want to apologize but should ask her for another date?

So years ago I dated a girl (only 1 time) from my university (another major so I didn't see her and even don't see her very often) and I think she didn't like me (I think it was too dense) so she started avoiding me, this was precovid and i really think im very compatible with this person like same jokes, humor and likes (i would not say love i dont know her that well, i knda have my feet on the ground but when she is near i really feel better or inspired i dont know how to describe it, never been in love) so i just want to apologize but also try to ask her for another date (always respecting her answer of course) i changed a lot this years. should i just apologize , should i ask her out (maybe trry to make her laugh) o just do nothing?
I dont know if i would see her again soon or not
Also i dont have to many experiences on women so any tip is welcome

In person ask her out COVID-19 didn’t really give us a chance so I would like to try again…how about… time, place, etc in one sentence. HELL NO…. Give her 10 days and crawl back and show you’re a Man and Serious and truly Sorry WITHOUT a whiny and spineless apology from a position of Desperation

Years ago? Sir that ship has sailed lol. From my perspective if a guy randomly popped up from even several months ago let alone pre-covid, I’d be like thanks for apologizing but I’ve moved on and no longer interested. It would actually be annoying, like why come back after all this time? I’d automatically think things didn’t work out with whatever women you’ve been busy with all this time, now you’re circling back because the grass wasn’t greener on the other side.

Invite her to meet you for lunch. It's a daytime thing so it's not really a "date" but it does give you a chance to talk to her.
