Is it normal for people to show interest if you don’t like them?

There were three guys I tried to date that turned me away and when I had lost all interest in them, they came back, one guy lost interest after I showed interest the second time. I knew a girl and guy that were mutually attracted at church and just because the girl tried too hard, the guy lost all interest in her.

I see several possibilities :

• Some men don't like to be chased,
• Some men are paranoid/suspicious when a girl chase after them/give in too easily (Is she mocking me? Is that a dare?),
• You are doing something wrong when you do the chasing or when you show interest. Like laughing too much or being a "yes girl". Maybe you are familiar too quickly (saying too much about your personal life/issues, having grand plans). Maybe you are saying or doing something rude or disrespectul (unwanted sexual attention, touching, etc.).
