Next time he shaves, gets a hair cut or takes a shower just tell him how much you like it and how it turns you on.

because he's a lazy shit who figured he doesn't have to try anymore because you likely won't leave since it's been 2 years. i'm just saying, seen it a lot.
You don't have to apologize for that. It's totally understandable. There isn't really a way to sugar coat it. You are going to have to be a bitch and be like dude, make an effort. Get a haircut, go shave, take a shower.

Perhaps you are enabling him. Make it clear of he wants to be near you, and if course he does, he needs to be clean and shaven. Everybody loves praise. Help with washing is an opportunity. Give him an incentive. Carrot and the stick.
Unfortunately, you have to be tough and honest and tell him directly. I know it's not that easy sometimes, but you can tell him that you want to be in the mood for him again, but it doesn't work that way.
@Subarugirl A guy can be clean and still scruffy. It's just a matter of style and priority. She's been with him for two years and now she's tired of it. If she wants something different, don't give a guy hints. Tell him. That's my point. Don't try to pick fights just because you've got a chip on your shoulder about men. If you have a comment, tell HER. Don't stick your nose into MY comment when you obviously don't know what I meant but just assume that he and I are ignorant dolts.

OR he's depressed.
both are bad.
Maybe he needs therapy and could be suffering with depression and not telling anyone, I would be encouraging him to get help mental wise.

Carrot and the stick.
When people are dating they should be trying to show how awesome they are. This guy clearly does not care about you.
@exitseven I have to agree with you.

It sounds to me like he's taking your relationship for granted.
Honestly, tell him straight up. Hints can only go so far.
Unfortunately it does happen from time to time. Maybe schedule a spa day for the two of you. Or treat him to an old school barbershop experience
Sounds like you’re over him and looking for excuses?
Could be he's depressed being in a relationship with you?
If a girl wants something from a guy it's always more effective if she TELLS him and doesn't wait for him to figure it out.
You’d think a grown man should have grooming and hygiene figured out

It was just a comment.
Totally excusable. Grown men smelling and looking like ish.
You tell him if he doesn't start to look and smell decent then the relationship is over. It's ridiculous.
That's not normal. It sounds like me may be depressed. Maybe you can stop buying him deodorant and see if you can actually help him.
tell him straight up that his hygiene needs to change.
you should be thankful. he is comfertable with you.
I'm repulsed by the overall lack of discipline and obedience. You deserve each other.
He doesn't make any effort for you? Did he fall out of love for you?
