Turned off my my boyfriend and his lack of self care?

We’ve been together for nearly 2 years but lately I find myself becoming turned off by him and the way he looks…he won’t always shave or get a haircut very often so he starts to look scruffy and I don’t find it attractive at all…I feel bad but it’s how I’m feeling and sometimes he gets smelly too…I don’t know how to gently tell him that either.
I've tried to give him hints like buying him new deodorant etc but he’s just not getting it and I’m not sure what to do about it.

Honestly, you probably just need to straight up tell him, rather than hint passively at it. If he's a grown and mature man, then he ought to understand. Tell him how it's making you feel, how it's unappealing, and that he needs to take better care of himself. If I may ask, what does he do for work?

Try being more direct and see if that. helps. If it doesn't than its probably time to end things, because it doesn't sound like he has any common sense.
