What to say when people ask me why I’m still single at 30?

I hate it.

I get it from my family, friends, colleagues…

They are nice about it and usually say things like how are you even single or you’re so pretty why are you single. I don’t know if they pity me or are concerned.

I just find it embarrassing and don’t know how to answer because obviously I’d love to have a lovely man in my life but it just hasn’t happened for me yet.

I can’t exactly blurt out to my poor grandmother that I’m traumatised by my cheating ex and have been in love with my 52 year boss for 2 years.

We know all these good things about you but you need to figure out what is wrong and fix it before it is too late is what everyone is thinking. When one is single at 30, he/she finds it hard to fit in anywhere. The majority of your friends and acquaintances are at least partnered up and have similar experiences to discuss.

From your post, I think that I understand what is happening now. All Singles' "Damaged Goods" or "Something Not Right" radar goes off when you are in vicinity.
