The phrase fake it until you make it comes to mind. Its a hunter mentality. If you see someone you like you are going to approach them in the best way possible. Is it wrong to do so? No because we all do it. We cater to our partners differently the how we act with our friends then act completely different in a professional setting or with family. You can see it as changing or you can see it as adapting your personality

It's rather difficult to maintain the facade and I'd rather not have to be forced to convince them, either they want me as I am now or we'll never be together. The reality is, if they were really my dream girl, they'd be interested in me, too.
A lot of guys did this with me in the past but their true colors often showed by month 3. People can only fake it for so long. I want someone whose already like what i hope for. Not someone who has to pretend

Nope.
You do *have* to change yourself in general for life via growth and all that, people just don't like people who don't self-improve.
However, being a doormat for someone you like and changing everything about yourself just to be near them is weird and unsexy.
My dream partner would not want me to change. (Or they'd want me to but then get off on me being just too awesome to change, but that's a whole other story).
Men get with women hoping they never change, and they always do.
