Would you ever date a guy who is a writer? Even if he just does it as a hobby. I've been writing novels and short stories for years, but it dawned on me, none of the girls ever asked to see my work. What do you think about guys who are writers?
If I was into dating, then why not? Being a writer is a sign of an intellectual openness and besides, it helps using proper grammar and phrase construction.
However, there are a number of conditions that I would attach to his writing.
1. The writing must remain a strict hobby and not something that he relies to live and make an income with it. In an overwhelming majority of the cases, people cannot live from their publications. Also, this hobby must not consume 12 hours day in and day out otherwise the relationships suffers from it.
2. What I would not tolerate is that his novels and short stories contain any pornographic and erotic content. This would be an absolute red flag and a no go. I could not live with a person that has only that kind of stuff in his mind, even if he is successful and could make a living out of it.
Being a novelist or writer is a nice hobby to have as it broadens the mind, not like someone that spends his entire free time behind a screen playing violent video games.
Yep. That is the short answer. The long one is much more involved. A guy like that is creative. I like that.
My only other half is not creative at all. It is somewhat weird considering his sister’s talent for artwork. He missed out on that gene it seems.
The thing is that being a writer does not define what a person is. That defines one very specific part of a person. People who write can be jailed for horrific crimes. You get what I’m saying, yes?
Do not lean on one particular personality trait to attract attention from girls. Be yourself and don’t rely on any one thing. While I find it attractive you are a writer, that will hardly score a date with me, were I single.
You have something good going on with your hobby. Don’t make it an emphasis but a plus. Best of luck to you.
I think girls prefer female authors when reading fiction unless you tackle something truly classic and theatrical. I only like male authors if they are writing about STEM or politics or crime or history.
