What does it mean if a girl says she wants to be friends and isn’t looking for a relationship right now?

I went on 2 dates with a girl off a dating app. She then texted me that she wanted to be honest and that she wasn’t looking for a relationship and wanted to be friends. I replied with thanks for being honest. That’s fine, if you want to hang out, you know where to find me.

I thought ok, put the ball in her court, and let this die out. Instead, she keeps messaging me. What is going on here? Does she actually want to be friends? I thought girls use the let’s be friends line when they’re just not interested to let you off gently.

She most likely got something going on with another guy right now that she hopes works out. But she wants to keep you on the back burner. So she's going to feed you just enough to keep you from going anywhere. Or at least that's the plan.

Anything other than an enthusiastic "yes" from a woman is always a "no".

I don't think there's anything wrong with continuing to talk to her if you enjoy it. But I would be making definite other plans. And don't feel bad about it because she already flat out told you she wasn't looking for a relationship.

"Let's just be friends" is a rejection. She is only still talking to you so she could potentially get your time and attention without providing anything you want in return. This is obviously a bad deal for you, so you need to tell her in no uncertain terms that you are only interested in a romantic relationship or none at all. Have some self-respect and don't be some chump orbiting her in the friend-zone.
