Is it annoying to tell your partner you love them every week?

My boyfriend and I hve been together for 1.5 years now…. every week/ day we would tell each other “ I love you”.
now since last week he says it’s annoying to keep hearing it because he already knows how I feel…. he doesn’t get annoyed with cuddles and kisses but when he keeps hearing the 3 words from me he does…

why would he be annoyed if he always loved it before?

It's odd that he would switch after you both used to say it over the past 1.5 years.

The only thing that might be annoying would be if you said it too romantically and with intent of prompting him to say it back.

Example: When I was 16, my first girlfriend called me at work. I was stocking shelves in the middle of a department store and using their phone. She kept saying "I love you" and I thought it was lame to say it back when people were listening. Finally, in order to get me back to work, my supervisor (a nice lady) said "Oh for goodness sake, just say it back."

I kind of resented that dumb girl for doing that.

On the other hand, I remember my aunt's eulogy at her husband's (my uncle's) funeral. One thing that surprised me and I thought was really sweet was when she said "Not one day ever passed when he didn't say that he loved me."

I tell my wife that I love her at least once a day. I say "I love you, sweetie" because I learned in my life that doing things that we think are proof of love aren't always enough. We can't assume that our partner knows that we love them.
Words are important. Communication is important, as are signs of genuine affection.

And I feel warm and comforted and valued when my wife says she loves me, not that she doesn't prove it all the time.

So I don't know what's doing on with your boyfriend. Are you in a LDR?

Nope we live in the same city and we spend weekends and holidays together…. and I sleep over at his place and he’s even spoken to me about moving in together…. so why would he say to me now 1.5 years later that I don’t have to say it to him every week?

I think it's just a personal thing. He probably still would like you to show your love for him every day in other ways and hear you say "I love you" occasionally, but I can understand that constantly hearing it makes it lose its meaning and even become annoying.

I think most importantly, you should talk to him about it. I don't think it's anything to be worried about at all, but communication is really important in a relationship even if there's nothing wrong. In fact, talking things out before they become a problem would probably prevent a lot of issues from ever happening. Maybe see if there's other things he wants you to do more or less, maybe there's things you want him to do more/less, etc. Just approach the subject as a couple trying to make each other happy.

Guys don’t need to hear every time, they already know you do, when you hear it all the time it’s almost as if it’s just out of habit and not really meaningful but when you say it every once in a while, then it’s more meaningful to a guy

The "I love you" phrase can be overdone. It can almost seem like the person is saying it just out of habit. Why not just say it when the person does something that really reminds you of why you love them.

I only tell my wife I love her when we are saying good night, and it's not every night. He knows that you love him so he doesn't have to hear it every day. He can sense it through your actions

I feel like the only time I wouldn’t want to hear that my girlfriend loved me was if I didn’t want her to love me anymore or I was insanely mad at her to the point that there would be no lack of clarity on the matter.

It depends on the person. Personally since I'm always getting into my head about the relationships I get into, I love hearing that I'm loved as much as possible because it is just reassurance that yes I am still loved.

I don’t think hearing that is annoying at all. I told my wife that when we dated constantly and she did the same thing. I have never heard of anyone being annoyed by I love you.
