If you haven't defined the relationship, that is a bad thing, yes.

You are allowed to feel whatever you want to feel, but you're bound to be disappointed because you're expecting a greater degree of commitment from people than would be appropriate in the context of the situation.

I wish the girl I was seeing/talking with for a year felt comfortable telling me about things like the trip she took to India earlier this year and what sort of car she bought; it's disappointing that she doesn't, but I can't expect her to share that stuff with me because I'm not her boyfriend. I feel very similarly to this. He said that he doesn’t talk to other women because he enjoys his time with me. I never questioned it, but one time he was showing me a video on his phone and he got a text from a girl saying ‘hey baby how is dinner’ (we were having dinner together) He swiped up like nothing happened and continued the video, I stared at his phone and tried my best to make no change in my expression but I feel like i died inside. Suddenly all my interest in him went away, but we aren't dating like i stated. So he is free to do his thing. But for some reason I feel sick inside.

Could be that you feel like he lied to you... I know that I would be more uncomfortable with this girl if she made it seem like I was her one and only, and then I find out that she can't even feel comfortable telling me the type of car she bought.

It's natural, it happens and it's okay that you feel this way but you need to accept this as a feeling that may be worth ignoring for the good of your potential future relationship.

For myself, I think it helps to remind myself that I am an animal and at my baseline my emotions are reactionary and it's only through filtering them through my self-awareness that they really matter for me.

An analogy:
That my concious mind is the border-checkpoint that everything hopefully goes through before I take it serious. But that is a constant struggle and sometimes when I lack understanding of myself, what seems like one thing is actually an emotion indicating else, something has been smuggled across the border..

Allow your self to feel insecure, jealous. Do not let that feeling over power you and do something silly rather use that energy in positive things as let him know try to get exclusive with him and such.
