Why would a man keep in touch even after you told him you don’t want to keep dating?

Do you all remember the handsome talkative actor I met 3 weeks ago or so?

I told him I couldn’t keep dating him because I was moving.

He kept in touch, by wishing me a nice day everyday, asking me how my day was, sending me some funny videos or movies he watched and enjoyed.

Why?

I rarely answer and usually I do so, out of politeness.

He’s not being creepy, he’a being attentive, asking me if I’ve settled and so on. I just wonder why? I told him I could no more date.

Why would he still want to talk?

Why wouldn't he? So you don't want to date me. I still enjoyed your company/thought you were a nice person/enjoy our conversation (whatever it was that he liked). None of that changed because you don't want to date me. You friendzoned people before and they were upset about it. Now you friendzoned somebody and he was like "Oh, okay, that's cool", so shouldn't you be happy? There's no reason NOT to still care about the person it didn't work out with. If you thought they were good enough to date then you wouldn't wish ill upon them. I'm in touch with a handful of my exes. Life didn't work out that way, okay, doesn't mean they aren't important to me.

I've been on both sides of that. Friends I hoped to date and friends who hoped to date me. Sometimes it worked out that way, sometimes it doesn't. I don't regret either. Life can be taken from us so quickly, it is nice to have someone around who matters, in whatever capacity that is.

Man, I'm in a similar situation. I dated this guy for around 5 months but it wasn't a great relationship due to him being very slow and not opening up emotionally. I really liked him though. But I realized it's not really progressing so after already talking to him about it before and things not changing, I ended it. I think it took him by surprise but he accepted it and wished me well. During those few first days I've decided to return to my hometown and already gave up my flat. He was back in few days same like your guys with texts and msgs like nothing happened, also wishes to see me again and talk. I'm alfraid he finally realized he took me for granted and will now try to make me change my mind and stay. So I think your guy is kind of thinking the same.

It's what a lot of dudes do. He's hoping that by staying friends you will eventually change your mind and want a relationship. He's asking you a bunch of trivial, juvenile things to keep a line attached. I prefer not to be that kind of guy on his end. Its pretty obvious , and his strategy is good , its a fact that " things change " and they can change quickly , he knows you fancy him , so its like selling anything , keep in touch with your contact , you know your product is right , just keep in touch , circumstances change.
