Do you think men care about a woman’s career?

Question

I don’t think men care about a girls career and how ambitious she is. We care how nice and pretty she is and we care more about if a girl can cook, clean and be a good mother more so than her career and achievements.

I’m saying this because a girl got angry at me for saying this which I was surprised at.

You're 21 years old so I'm not sure if you're already rich, in line to inherit a ton of money, or have already landed over a 6 figure job with room for growth. That said at your age and unfortunately generation, you might need to all care about (for hetero couples) what career your girlfriend/wife has and how much she makes because you won't be able to afford rent/ mortgage and all living expenses with pricing right now.

I'm not saying you're not allowed to want a traditional set up because there are plenty of women that still look for this too. I just don't see it feasible with living expenses for 95% of Americans (if you're in the US at least). I'm always curious when young people feel this way if they live in big cities or rural areas because that could play a role in living expenses.

But if you're making 100k gross in the US right now that's not a lot to survive for a couple considering you have to take roughly 15 percent to set aside for retirement, pay for if you're lucky a portion of your healthcare, all your utilities, food, mortgage, taxes , and some extra if you want to leave your house and have fun once in a while.

Where I live you need roughly 200k a year gross to be able to afford a house in my neighborhood and do all the above. Maybe a little less if you're lucky enough to get a pension and get free healthcare I'd say 150-175k gross then. If you're living in a place less expensive than me, which I hope you do, you're still going to need to make I'd say 100k to survive. It took me a while to get there maybe you'll get there faster.

Have you thought about all this? If you want kids having one parent at home will save you in childcare but I didn't add that into the above equation.

"Care"?

What do people mean when they say care?

Let's assume that we are talking about attraction. Does a woman's career, her status and income make her more attractive to a man the same way a MAN'S career and his income makes him ATTRACTIVE to a woman.

NO, it doesn't.

When a guy is sexually attracted to a woman, if he is drawn to her, can't take his eyes off of her, when a man is looking for a long term partner, wants to fall in love, wants to get married, her career has zero role in that.

While he may be pleased she likes what she does, he may appreciate the additional money her career income adds to the family, he may have a sense of "good for you" when she has a degree. Well, good for her, I'm sure she worked hard, I'm happy for her... etc. BUT... BUT nothing of these have anything to do with attraction.

Attraction is usually just how pretty she is, her figure, her femininity, her personality and how sweet, soft, girly, personable she is, her value system, how easy going and pleasant she is to be around, how much she likes him and makes him feel respected and wanted.

A woman's career has zero to do with attraction and her a potential life partner or "falling in love".

I guess it really depends on the guy.
Speaking from personal experience, when I met my partner I wasn’t in a space that I felt I needed to be. I took him my goals and ambitions career wise. After a year together, he picked up an extra working gig while still in his career field so that we can stay on top of our bills and lifestyle and I went to school full time.
When I graduated, we switched roles.

I really think it depends on the dude and their love and support for their partner.

To answer your question I think there’s a lot of men that don’t care about a women’s career and frankly women shouldn’t give a damn what anybody thinks. They deserve a career just like anybody else.
Any boy who doesn’t care about a woman’s career is definitely stuck in the old days and not really up to speed with gender equity and it’ll really show in their character.

Of course I do. I don't wife or girlfriend to be dependent on me. She needs to be independent. I mean financially. I'm not in any spot to pay for anyone elses bills but mine.

So I will always support a woman's career. Give advice when needed (if she askes). There is no harm in that.

I can't say I care about a woman's career or earning potential. A career exist for no other propose than to provide us with resources to support our family. At the end of the day nobody is going to care what job you did or whom you worked for decades after your gone.

The business will probably have long since ceased to exist and whatever you did having been been redone and forgotten.

Your children and their children however on the other hand will always very much care that you had, raised, and took care of them for they owe their existence to that fact.

Just as we owe ours to our ancestors even greater effort.

As such given the primary important of a mother to her children, its hard to even think about anything else as even worth mentioning to day compared to her efforts there never-mind 200 years from now.

When your family legacy is all that is left of you in this world.

Impressed? I think there are certain careers women can have that guys "respect," because it can be indicative of what kind of heart she has... in terms of empathy. I know guys that gear more towards the personalities of RN's, EMT's and such. The snottiest, most entitled snakes I've ever came across were women who work in fields just the opposite of that... in the office of some corporation, or anything white collar. Women who work in tougher fields, like cops and soldiers... and I've run into several... tend to be a LOT more empathetic than ones who sit on their ass in a high rise office running their mouths. So impressive may not be the right word... but guys certainly can have more respect for women in some fields more than others.

Nobody wants to be around someone who is complaining about lack of money.

She has to have the same career aspirations/goals/ambitions/skills/talents as me, or its not going to work out.

I want to run a home business with a wife, where we make and sell cool stuff. And before that, being a dual income household alone makes her job matter.

60% will leave the workforce after 2 years, right when maternity leave kicks in.

An additional 40% will leave after 5 years.

The women who return to work will only do so if its part time. i. e. 2 days a week.
