Just as a way to see part of their true character is perhaps? Hoping they treat pets and animals well?
I prefer to consider how my cat interacts with people - not just potential boyfriend - than my dog.
My dog is like many dogs, he'd like a burglar if the person had a treat on them
(and that's been proven in experiments, a lot of house dogs aren't good - either running away or being overly / too friendly - for protecting the house from burglars)..
My cat on the other hand, like most cats, is selective on who she interacts with.
And to date has never been wrong.
I remember even now years later how she absolutely HATED - hissed, spat, showed teeth, even tried jumping on his head once when he was on the couch and acted like a little tigress though he was never once seen abusing or teasing her - one of my friend's boyfriends (later revealed to be extremely emotionally and physically abusive).

Absolutely. As @Nikki1989 said, you can tell a lot about a person based on how they treat animals. Aswell as how animals react to them. Animals can sense bad energy.
Yes. Animals know more than we give them credit for. If someone isn’t at least neutral to someone (some cats, for example, just don’t give a 💩), it’s definitely a red flag.
Yes, that is why I never dated a few girls because I saw the ways they treated pets I owned. No one comes to my house and says, hey dog, get down that is messed up with me.

I would say it's a plus. But obviously I wouldn't date someone who was cruel to animals.
Definitely depends on the pet. If I find out you're into snakes and keeping scorpions or tarantulas as pets, we're done. If you don't like animals in general, we're also done.

If we are dating, my dogs are going to check her out and if they don't get along then we won't be dating. Dogs are a good judge of character.
My wife's family had 9 cats and 4 dogs. I knew she was an animal lover
Yes, but only with dogs. Cats are racists.
