Why is this guys acting so weird with me (or am I overseeing things)?

We’re both actors in training and during an exercise we got close contact touching each others hand, lingering on the holding hands thing and he even made me do a turn at some point which was fun and I did feel a connection during that time. However since then I couldn’t stop noticing how he speaks with most people in our cohort (44 people) but is very shy around me. To the point we’re both in the same group chatting and he’s right next to me not speaking or I get into the same room as he does and is just the 2 of us, he gazes at me without acknowledging my presence or asking any questions. But then he’s also able to use exercises we’ve done to get my attention and be playful with me. Once we got the tube together with a bunch of other people and I caught him staring at me at least twice and looking away. But I also know he is “seeing” someone else from a different course. Don’t know the nature of their relationship though.
