Is 18 and 24 to big of an age gap?

So I don't know if it’s just cause of how I look but I get a lot of younger girls that take interest and want to ask me out it’s happened on a few occasions and some can be very persistent. I never saw a big issue in giving them a chance we are all adults and everyone was consenting in the situation do I thought it’d be fine. But after a recent situation and speaking with some both male and female friends they all seem to think that 18 is too young to date or talk too at my age. And I was kinda confused growing up an age gap like this wasn’t anything crazy especially in my family my mother and father have a 9 year age gap so does my brother and the mother of his child. And my brothers first girlfriend that he brought to meet the family was 18 and he was 23 at the time. Even then my the time I was a senior I knew a few guys in my senior class who messed around with some college girls as old as 23. Have things just changed or are some people just being overly dramatic cause I got more a mixed reception from friends and family some friends and my family don’t think it’s all that big a deal and my other friends think 18 is to young as well as some very opinionated Reddit users.

If you are uncomfortable with the age gap, then yes, to you it is too big of an age gap. There’s people who will always judge others for age gap relationships. If it’s something that you want to pursue, then you’ve got to stop caring about what people on reddit say.


Ask yourself these questions - what do you have in common with an 18 year old? Are you comfortable with not only the physical age gap, but also the mental maturity difference and difference in life experience?

I’ve been with a few already and honestly for the overall experience I’d say they were better than some girls my own age I mean that whole heartedly. Having stuff in common has never been an issue I’ve never understood that argument tbh I much older then my nephew but we can still easily find things in common to talk about I don’t think dating boils down to that just my opinion.

If it’s something that works for you, then I see nothing wrong with continuing. 18 and 24 is not too big of an age gap. People usually only frown upon relationships like that because there’s many cases of older guys preying on naive, freshly 18 year old girls.

I’m in an age gap relationship and no one really cares, since I’m not a teenager. Usually people stop caring if the younger person is no longer a teen.

No I’m not talking to anyone within that who is 18 currently I’m mostly asking for future reference because with how frequently I get approached by girls who are that young I’ve got no doubt it’ll happen again 😭

But if we are talking the few I’ve been with already that have been that age it varies most of the ones I’d been with it was purely a sexual attraction or it started off that way and one two girls I had genuine interest in. But these girls were all girls I talked to over the course of talking to other girls in between who were my age I don’t wanna send the wrong message that girls who are 18 are all I go for a lot of the time I just shoot my shot and once we are in the talking stage I find out they are pretty young that or they are the ones shooting there shot and are just very persist despite that age gap.

It's ok if: they are out of high school and they are hitting on you. But if you do date an 18-year-old, be careful of her feelings and her future. You don't want to be the reason a woman doesn't go to college.

Really see that is actually why I’m asking the question cause if a recent situation I had happen. Usually these girls have some initial interest or straight up ask me out but I took interest in this one girl who was at the was 18 but she was out of highschool. And well things didn’t go well between us to say the least but I’ve hit on an 18 year old here and their ofc but this is before I knew there age but they still took interest so why is it different? Between the two
