I’ve known this guy since high school (about 7 years) he had a really big crush on me but thought I was out of his league then so we didn’t date. Not gonna lie I wasn’t interested in him then. last year in the summer we started dating and we were super into each other but things didn’t work because of misunderstandings and my life was not where it should have been. We stopped talking for a couple of months and even dated other people. He got into a relationship and they broke up probably in November of 2023. In January he reached out to me. He made it clear he wanted no rush into a relationship rn because he didn’t want to hop from one woman to another. My birthday was on the 3rd of March and he came to my birthday dinner. Met my family and after dinner we went back to his place. We played video games, smoked and eventually had sex. I could tell we were even more into each other after. He never wants me to leave when we hang out and I don’t want to either. But I had a conversation with my mom today randomly and she says men don’t want to be with you after you have sex with them so soon and that they only see you as fun. He doesn’t treat me that way in fact he said all he thinks about is me now. I even met his friends the next day and we all hung out all day. We talk everyday all day and he’s so respectful. Maybe I did mess it up by sleeping with him. He doesn’t pressure me for sex or initiates it. We both agree our feelings for each other are growing. I don't know I’m just confused

You've known him for 7 years, so no its not too soon, 3 years is enough to not be too soon.

Reinforce the bond, let him know you're commited so he feels safe deciding to commit.

You've both had plenty of time to get to know eachother completely, sex is appropriate at this point and will only strengthen the relationship, but you need to make it clear you love him, he can't be doubting it, or he moght get scared of being hurt and bail out of fear that you will bail.

Yea, and sleeping with him after he said he wasn't ready for commitment probably sealed the chance of a commited relationship with this person, where there's free pussy, there's no rush to commit, it's also possible you gave him the wrong idea and possibly sabotaged yourself as being relationship material in his eyes, these are all assumptions of course but they have their possibilities.
