When Do You Think A Woman Should Start Reciprocating In A Relationship?

I'm in college, and many men complain that the woman they are dating doesn't reciprocate in any way. For example, he will pay for everything on the date, but she doesn't even offer to help. It would be nice if she left a tip or cooked a meal instead of going out to eat.

The women respond that the men are supposed to pay for the date. She reciprocates by dressing nice and getting ready, which takes a lot of time, energy, and effort.

I'm feeling quite confused about this. What are your thoughts on the matter?

I think the way a relationship starts is usually how it continues. I look for reciprocity right away. If it’s not there, I’m not interested in going further. I'm happy to lead, but I expect women to put in some effort. Even just contacting me first is appreciated. Even when it comes to friendships, if I'm putting in all the work, then I just don't bother.

What if you go on a date with a woman and take her to lunch - you pay for everything.
Do you expect her to reciprocate on the first date? Second date?

I will never understand why people don't talk to each other... if they have expectations they should share them BEFORE dating... talk about them... negotiate... compromise... make it work for both people :D

The guy took his time to earn the money, which is way more effort than getting dressed and putting on makeup, which most females do prior to going into public anyway.

@jahaims getting ready isn't valuable either. Money is even less valuable than that tbh tho. They should be valuing each others presence/company.
Just paying is being a gentlemen and a selfless act. I see it the same as someone holding a door open. Sure it takes a bit of effort but that shouldn't be the thought behind doing it

You are basically saying guys should pay for a females time because it takes time to get ready. Paying for your time makes you an escort not a date.
