When I was 5, my parents took us to San Francisco for the day, and we rode BART, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (i. e., commuter train). It was only 3 or 4 years old at the time so it was still new and nice.
Anyway, I was fascinated by it, and how it went underground in the cities and under the Bay, but came out in other area and were on elevated tracks. To a 5 year old, it was neat, so I decided that I would like to be a BART driver.
Having to actually commute on BART in my 20s and 30s - and with all of the problems you would expect in a far-left-leaning area (homeless/drug addicts being allowed to sleep overnight on training, even doing drugs or relieving themselves in the train, thugs attacking riders in train stations, etc.), I have no desire to even go for a ride on BART anymore.
Yea, San Francisco is another world. I loved visiting there but at the same time I saw things that week that I don’t care to ever see again lol
The difference between 20 years ago (it wasn't great then) and now is really depressing. It's gotten really awful in a lot of ways. For example, there were so many homeless drug addicts pooping in the streets that they've had to hire a poop patrol to clean the streets - and they struggle to keep up.
When I was in kindergarten I used to say I’ll be a clown when I grow up because we had a big clown show where the clown sang and gave us CDs with some songs which I guess I was obsessed with 🤣
Some other occupations I dreamed of becoming while being a kid were police officer, kindergarten teacher and lawyer 😆
Haha that’s awesome 😂 I remember going to the planetarium and wanting to be an astronaut so bad because I thought the planets were so cool 😂
Honestly, I had nothing until I was like 15? I wanted to be a game designer.

I was one of those weird kids who had no answer. I remember being in primary school when teachers would ask that question with students eagerly answering things like, "Fireman! Doctor! Veterinarian! Astronaut! [Whatever one of my parents does]!"
I seemed to be the most confused kid because I was the oddball out saying, "I don't know." I remember one teacher in particular who seemed disappointed and taken aback by my answer and tried to encourage me to come up with something and I was like, "I don't know! I don't know, I don't know! Dunno! [shrug]" Then she said something like, "Umm... okay, moving on."
But I was like 7-years old! How am I supposed to know what I want to do for the rest of my life then? I needed more time and experience and knowledge about these jobs to pick one! :-D
I did have a phase in my teens when I was entertaining the idea of becoming a field biologist. It was my favorite course and I loved to handle dangerous animals like snakes and scorpions and giant spiders even larger than tarantulas and I dreamed of trying to wrestle an alligator. I wanted to become a field biologist like the Crocodile Hunter studying wild animals. That wasn't until I was around 14 years old though, not a little kid, and I still ended up going a very different route. It was just a little phase I had.
Anything where I could have a gun.
So I thought police or military.
But I was a little thief. My mom said "they'll never let you be a police officer if you keep stealing things".
So I decided to go into the military.
That was my 6 yr old logic.
Thankfully I matured a lot and my motives changed but I had a good run in the military.
And... I stopped stealing stuff too.
President / Dictator, cause if you're gotta be filthy rich why not straight up aim for the stars lol
And then diplomat, cause cool passport, paid for house, maids, car, travel, salary and seemingly not that much work lol
Even as a 10 year old I just wanted to retire early and have fun.
