I don't have an specific career, I understand that in some careers and ventures this is a given, and that you do have to move to where the better opportunities are in order to advance but, I very specifically quit the career path, and just to avoid this exact thing... I went with business instead, and, a business, I can start it right where I am and where I want to be, and stay...

I did do that a long time ago, actually. When I graduated from grad school, I was already priced out of the area where I grew up because the cost of living there soared. So I moved to an area that was way more reasonable and I've pretty much been there since. Although it wasn't all that far away. Just a couple of hours.

I have no problem with moving. My friends and family already live in different European countries, so wherever I am, we can contact each other online, as we do now. I'm also free of whining partner and small kids, so... :D

There were times I was moving for better opportunities, but now I can work online, so I'm planning to move to satisfy my curiosity :D

I enjoy where I'm living and though I'd love to make more, I've lived in my home for most of my life. I own my house. I can't think of another place I'd want to live except Paris, and I can't afford that one!

Yes, I'm doing it now. I'm in a poor, busted up college town in the Eastern U. S., working a mundane job. But in 6 mos I'll be in a world class city 2,000 miles from here, new truck, running my own disposals business. I don't associate with people at all. They're not genuine, they don't give a shit, they can NOT be trusted. I don't go out to eat, don't drink, don't do drugs. Everyone else around here does. Too bad. I've got NOTHING for em. In 5 years, I'll have moved to Mexico. I despise Americans and their "culture." I'm the son of immigrants. I don't need their passive aggressive fakery, I don't need leetches around me, don't need faux tough guys around me, don't care how much dope you deal or how much of a "gangsta" they are, how fat their ass is, how much they can make on OnlyFans, etc. I rescued 3 kittens from the sidewalk shortly after birth, they're my family. I won't help ANY of these people though. They don't even exist. They're all gonna get hauled off to prison, rehab, or OD by the age of 35. Sucks for them. Too bad.😉

My hometown, where I grew up, is in economic decline, which started in the 1960s. When I graduated from college (years ago), I could not get a job in my hometown, so I moved away, and except for occasional visits to my cousins, I have not set foot in my hometown since.

it depends on economic background and relationship with people you are currently surrounded with.
for me, i would shift given that my relationships are healthy but i will only move in a way that i can take a couple hours or a flight to travel back and come in case of emergencies or to meet my people.

Sure. I went to a warzone. Two of them. 9 years there, collectively. Then I left the coasts. Money is way better now than when we were poor growing up.

I've moved. In Europe, moving a few hundred miles can mean a huge change; what language do they speak there?

I moved around England many times for new jobs, then moved to Germany for a job and a family.

I have no problems with moving. At present I am happy where I am but if the need or the chance arose, I would move to be where I wanted to be, distance is not an issue.

I've emigrated 3 times so far in the last 20 years. Each time in part to try for an improvement in standard of living. Ok, Covid screwed up the last one but I'm always open to a new challenge.
