I saw it last night and I got to be honest it was the worst movie I've seen since the new Ghostbusters. Why can't Hollywood make more good movies with female leads?

George Lucas once said that the studios have a corporate mentality, they do all kinds of marketing demographic studies, and tend to play it safe. That is, they're more comfortable doing a retread of an existing idea, or sequeling and existing idea until it no longer makes a profit.
When Jodie Foster wanted to do Silence Of The Lambs, she had a hell of a time getting any studio to back it, because they were too scared to take a chance on it. When it turned out to be a great and profitable movie, these same studios were drooling to do sequels on it.
I haven't seen it and probably never will. Hollywood seems to be very efficient at recycling old movies with a stupid twist that is supposed to serve as a substitute for good writing.
Does anyone remember Weekend At Bernie's II?
They can't make a good one because old is gold and those female versions are more about making money in box office-_- nothing wrong with gaining money, this is the point after all but these movies don't have contents
I haven't seen it, but i've heard mostly bad reports about it

Not sure, going to see it tomorrow night.
I hated Ghostbusters, and generally don't like the whole "movie sequel/remake but with women instead of men" idea because it's a lazy, cheap way to include women in Hollywood.
However, this movie has so many great actresses, that I'm fairly interested in seeing how it turns out.
Ya without clooney, mr Pitt... I didn’t even see it lol
Like Rihanna? Cmon now... let’s not waste anyone’s time hahah
We all know this all female cast for oceans 8 is just a shadow of what it really was 😛
I want to go see it though, I have a movie pass that lets me see one movie a day for 10 dollars a month. so it might happen
It had a good opening weekend and made back it's budget in a couple of weeks. I think that qualifies as a success. As for the actual film I haven't seen it yet, but word of mouth isn't that great.
It was a mediocre crime procedural. Slow with a somewhat predictable ending. Needed more humor. Anne Hathaway was fun to watch.
I wouldn't be surprised it looks awful and quite frankly just looks like a rip off of a movie I've seen before and probably have.
It made more money so far from it's budget. Have to see the numbers for this week on how it does.
Bombed, not because it was all women but because it lacked a good solid individual action sequence of them committing the heist and not just being a copy of what the guys have already done.
Is it like the Ocean's 11-12-13 movies? What does that title mean?
it is like the other ocean's movies. 8 refers to the number people in the heist
It was ok. There was never a sense of urgency or threat but nonetheless it had my attention.
It’s bullshit political correctness. Women are exactly like little children. “But mommmmmyyyyyyy, he gets to do that so why can’t iiiiiiiii😖😖😖”
I haven't seen it yet. Haven't heard anything good or bad about it.
115million in about 10 days
definitely not a bomb from a box office perspective
"A $79.175m ten-day total for the $70m-budgeted all-female heist caper" Forbes
"Still, the Sandra Bullock/Cate Blanchett/Anne Hathaway/Helena Bonham Carter/Sarah Paulson/Mindy Kaling/Rihanna/Awkwafina heist comedy should top $100m right before the July 4th holiday. At worst, we’re probably looking at a $120m domestic total, which is right in line with Ghostbusters (but at half the budget). It also has $37m overseas thus far for a $116m worldwide cume. If it can match that gender-swapped revamp’s $230m worldwide cume, it’ll triple its budget in worldwide theatrical." Forbes.
the 115million in ten days was based on worldwide box office. i'm sure there will be some conflicting numbers from outlet to outlet since a lot of is projections since you can't really calculate specific ticket pricing in each place... but to the point it is clearly at least a box office smash.
haven't heard much from people who saw it about their specific impressions except that it's good. not great. but entertaining to see
