What is today's music? Vast majority of singers nowadays can't sing, they mumble at best. They whine about how life is hard because they won't get anywhere if not appealing to deadbeats - just like how "influencers" are aimed towards dimwitted followers - and with their melodramatic attitudes make alcoholics look sober.

I have hated modern music since I started buying albums at the age of 8, and I hated it even more once I started studying music theory and learning piano.
The bottom line is I like real music played by musicians, not a producer pressing preset #5 on a computer for example.

We find most of today's music derivative, we come from the time of Pirate Radio, when artists had to be able to sing & play instruments no 'auto tune' 4 & 8 track studio tape recorders and mix desk's only starting to be common
Go onto Youtube and have a search for 70's, 80's, 90's music that will give you some idea of where we're coming from and TV shows like Stranger Things.
Much of today's music is repetitive and, the big problem, autotuned. In the past if a singer sucked you knew it. Now if a singer, or musician, sucks, the engineer fixes it and the singer mimes to a track on stage and people think he/she is great.

They’re stuck to the good memories of the past. But hey things evolve all the time imagine if we lived with the same resources our parents and grandparents had in the 60s 70s 80s.

Hip hop started out really clever, now it’s devolved into literal trash and taken over everything. They call it “trap” or mumble rap. There is good music out there today sure but all the good stuff I hear on the radio is from the 60s 70s and 80s
Because nudity and vulgarity is what solds music nowadays. Long time ago competition was merciless and only really talented musicians could succeed. Nowadays you have to own huge amount of money and the right guy to lobby for you and talens/skills seem useless.
Because most of today's music is garbage. It's not just old people, plenty of younger people can agree that the copy cat, money machine music industry is in the dumps, and it's not coming out any time soon
Scientifically, the music you listen in your youth is the music you continue to prefer throughout your life and it is a normal phenomenon for everyone. When we will get older we will also continue to prefer what we are loving now.
It's all subjective kid. You like what you like. Matter of fact the volume of music produced has always been 90% shit and 10 percent gold in any era. There are good ones making music today. Truth is you can find a pile of stale, repetitive shit in any Era, not just modern.
Speaking only for myself, there are a few of today's acts I like. But in general most of what I hear in today's music is anger and rage, where almost all of ours is up lifting, yes we had protest songs, but they were not full of rage. Again, that is just my opinion.

Because they can tell what’s the best and what’s not the best even older people like hip-hop and rap and it’s not good today there’s nothing out there but love songs very rarely any good songs out there
Gradually it all has been declining in quality. I see it as junk food and focus on real classics when I can like Mozart or bards songs of stories from five hundred years ago
I don’t really listen to too much music from the last few years. I don’t hate it, just not too into it. My girlfriend listens to regatone but that’s as modern as I get.

Generally speaking, as humans age, our openness to experience decreases.

Yes lol It's very redundant and synthetic. There is great new music but not the type that is promoted heavily.

Music we grew up with is nostalgic thus making us feel good.
I like todays music... but there is a lot of shit that is just pure garbage out there from this gen lol

It is repetitive and overly produces. They rely on sound effects instead of talent. I like the music from the 60s and 70s and 80s.
You don't get it because Cardi B is in your profile picture. If you think she is talented then you'll never get it.
Well she worked through the struggle and provides a better life for her kids than she had. That's what I appreciate most about her.
