Generally it's bad hitting your mother right?

I'm ashamed to admit it but yes, I did once slapped (not hard though) my mother back. I was in my early 20's at the time, we had an argument, I said several bad words (back talking), she slapped me and I slapped her back. She was totally shocked, afraid of me at that moment and was crying.

That was the first time she ever slapped me. She never hit me as a toddler nor kid ever. My boyfriend told me if he wouldn't even be typing if he hit his mother back. We both agree that was wrong.

My boyfriend was surprised. In his own words, he both respected and fear his mother. He would have been afraid to try raising a hand on her.

Yeah, if someone hit my mother I would end up in prison for murder.

I added an update. My boyfriend thinks I got lucky she was shocked and crying. He said if he had done to his mother, it wouldn't have progressed to back talking, much less trying to hit her back.

She was sad that day and kept saying something like ''omg who did I raised'' and my father was super disappointed. He was like ''I might have a school bully (he was in HS), have flaws and all but never once hit my parents''. He didn't understand how someone can hit their parents, esp your mom.
