Am I weird? Is it normal for me to not want to spend time with people & rather stay in with my dog? I love my dog (Dollar) more than anything in this world. I even love her more than my own flesh & blood. Is this normal
It is weird , it’s ok to adore a pet and be happy with it but to love it over people and yourself is a little to extreme , something must of happened in your past for you to be very accepting of your dog that way , I did a lot of research on this out of curiosity and it’s actually a sign of mental illness , A friend of mine dated a girl and the one night we had a get together and the topic of dogs came up and she was saying how much she loved dogs , so teasingly I asked her if your boyfriend or a dog was hanging off a cliff and you could only save one, who would it be? and she said the dog , I almost fell over laughing in tears from the look on my friends face, that she said that, He ended up breaking up with her over that comment and I kind of agreed with him, Cuz that is so messed up , To be so attached to an animal that way and it’s a sign of mental illness , Something must of been unfulfilled or missing in your lifetime, for you to accept an animal over Yourself and others , When people treat their dogs like they are their children is a sign of mental illness , and they should honestly seek counseling. It’s ok to adore your pet and treat it kindly but to love it over yourself is a sickness , I am sorry to say., Me personally has 2 dogs and I like playing with them and spending time with them , but if They were shitting and pissing al over my house I would have no problem getting rid of them , and if no one took them , then I throw their asses out in a field somewhere , no animal is worth stress in a household , people that allow a dog to shit and piss in their homes are mentally ill as well , I trained my dogs to listen to my commands, if they didn’t listen and I couldn’t train them then I would get rid of them I am not allowing an animal to burden me with stress. Not worth it
And I'm happy that he break up with her, he was wasting her time. No one ever can make you choose between people you love, and yes, you being a human doesn't make you any better than rest of animals
I would never choose an animal over a human being , even if they were a complete stranger I would save the humans life over some dog or animal , whether I the dog was mine was mine or what not , people that can choose an animal over a human life is sick in the fucking head

They are typically people who have to have animal companionship bc they lack the ability to keep humans in their life. Ofcourse they feel more comfort with a dog.. why? Bc the animal can't speak back. The animal is docile... its job is to serve the human.. but just wait on it... you mistreat an animal. n eventually it'll mistreat you or another human being just like humans do. Thanks for Superb @BonnieBoo , I am glad you took my answer seriously and didn’t look at it that I was bashing you Cuz I wasn’t bashing you at all , It’s just something I looked into , I have a cousin that was very attached to his dog to the point it was kind of freaky considering he is a 45 year old guy , and the way he acted when he found out his dog was dying was a little to extreme , to the point I was like wow he honestly needs to seek some type of help, I don’t mean it in a mean way , Just some people get attached to things a little to extreme I am not saying they are extreme mentally ill and they need to be locked up into an institute just they are dealing with a sign of. mental illness , Mental illness is a chemical imbalance in the brain , something most people can’t control and see for themselves , that’s why there are medications and counseling for this sort of thing , or it can just be a sign of something is missing from your life but to really pin point it , I don’t have a clue cuz I am not a doctor or a psychiatrist , I don’t know you personally, So please don’t think I am criticizing you what so ever , I am just answering you based off your question of what I looked into cuz My cousin went through the same shit, and seeing how he acted was not normal. So again I don’t know your life and what things you experienced through your life to make you so attached to your dog , I am just answering your question based off of what I researched. But, we're really talking about different kinds of love, here, though. You don't have to deal with a dog to buy your groceries, get your furnace fixed, your oil changed, or your hair styled. You DO have to cultivate human interaction- like it or not- to get through the day-to-day. After the people drive you nuts, take solace with your pooch. They know when we are hurting.
In the meantime, my dog probably won't be with me too much longer, so I'm stocking up on doggie hugs!

That's perfectly normal, especially for introverts, or people that aren't social. Animals are typically better listeners, they don't judge you, and tend to respect and love you more than most humans-
Sounds totally normal. My city is a dog centric, to the point where you can't deny a person tenancy because they have a pet! I also see a bunch of people with their dogs in strollers and in purses hahah, totally normal.
Dogs unlike humans will not throw stuff at you because you played with another dog. Animals want love and attention, they also know when something is not right. Some will do whatever it takes to get you to stop focusing on the problem. They'll also not leave because you played with someone other than them. They also listen and never put their two cents in when not wanted. They understand more than people give them credit for. They're like children, if you pay close attention to them you can tell what they are going to do before they do it. I think Hell's kitty is a good satire but it's really stupid at the end.

Indeed people are toxic but you can’t just give up to their toxicity. I understand you don’t like people and neither do I. I actually enjoyed the lockdown a LOT. I never need to socialise but we need to understand that interacting with people is actually pretty important in all stages of life. You need to know the art of socialising and even being shrewd and at time sociopathic with people.

I think sometimes, relationships are just complicated and animal relationships are much simpler. You feed them food and pet/cuddle and you have a new best friend. I think it's safe and predictable.

AGREED... usually these are people who have issues. Animals are great n all but they can't talk to you n have a conversation with you, they can't give advice, they can't contribute financially in a house hold, they can't provide intimacy- if they do then you're screwed in the head. From my experience, people who say they like animals more are typically the human who is actually untrustworthy and not a good person and or have mental issues. I know someone like this who's very close to me. She is the most manipulative, deceitful, unbalanced woman ever.. but says she like animals more than people buy doesn't realize she has issues with everyone around her bc of how she is to everyone else. Ofcourse you like the animal more bc as long as you feed it, give it shelter, and take it to shit, they'll remain loyal to you. Low maintenance, high return. Humans are much more intelligent.. we require more effort than a damn milk bone or opening the door so we can go the bathroom in the yard.

Quick story: I went out with this woman and she was way over the top about her dog. She said if I ever came to her house that first we would have to do a 'meet and greet' at a nearby park to make sure her dog 'approved of me'... wtf? Needless to say that was our first and only date.
