Last woman I dated let her son do that and other stuff, made me feel weird since my parents would have never let us do that, but I guess it would be alright occasionally and if monitored
I think they should mind their business and let the human they made drink in peace and have freedom to do what they like without being looked over constantly by some old creep
@rcljr But that's and argument of "impunity makes right". And that would imply that the easiest way to solve the problem of parental crime is to legally define it away.
And note that I'm not against parental discretion here. Much to the contrary. There are places where teens can drink under parental discretion and it doesn't seem to create problems.
And it seems like I'm going to have to do your argument for you, which I don't want to, because then you get out not knowing the importance of making a coherent and comprehensive argument.
But I'm going to give you a clue, at least, using jurisprudence. Clearly parents aren't liable for any poor dietary choices they make for their children, nor are the diets of children strictly controlled by a legal code. And that's everywhere, except the most authoritarian countries.
id rather they learn what alcohol does to a person under the safety of my supervision. i might even require my 14 year olds to get shitfaced at home before they go out into the world

I'd rather they experiment in a safe environment instead of hide it and do it around people that might take advantage of them.
Unless they are 18 or over, I have huge issues with it.
My mom taught me how to play quarters at 14, with shots of Jim Bean. Drinking looses its thrill and becomes a bit more of a social chore.
having a small amount of wine or beer won't kill them, I started drinking wine spritzers at 17 and I turned out ok
I think they are irresponsible and if somebody died or was injured as a result, they could do jail time and have a nice civil suit on their hands.

Better than them doing it without parental supervision
If it's being done safely and responsibly, I have no problem with it
I think it’s fine. Especially in the US. We’re one of the weirdos with such a late drinking age.
i guess drinking under the consent of a parent it may be better than a child learning about it from other friends.
"Did you have those kind of parents?"
Yes. I learned that alcohol is a social lubricant but being too drunk excludes you from any society.
I would rather my kids drink at home then get out a rink and drive.

It's parenting, and I believe it's their prerogative if legal.
I don’t personally go tell the cops everything I do, nor do I follow laws that are invasive within the inside of my house.
@rcljr I understand. But legally it's only their prerogative if it's legal.
By your logic, one could justify pedophilic incest.
Well, since you’re guilty of pedophilia and incest maybe you should turn yourself in.
@rcljr I'm not, I'm saying your logic is flawed.
You need a logic that distinguish what parents can and can not do in parenting, or what constitute invasive inside one's home.
Parents know the limits, those that don’t wind up in prison

It's sets a bad precedent giving your kids alcohol. Not something I'll do as a parent.
As long as it’s in very controlled amounts I don’t think it’s a big deal. A beer or 2 never hurt me as a teenager.
Yeah absolutely.

They did the same with me and I turned out fine.
I only drink every day now.
Those parents are dumb, and are only raising their kids to be as smart as them.
