The reason I'm asking this question is because I'm preparing to read Jeanette McCurdy's new book soon. Plus I will later be writing a my take down the road about the book, and Dan Schneider's accusations against him by his other actors that he hired for his shows whom were forced to do things that were inappropriate. But for the sake of this question, I'm just going to ask if your parents ever pressured you into doing something like playing sports, learning dance, or whatever? I do have a couple mom friends who are big on their children being in beauty pageants for one thing because they were into it as children and teens.
Looking forward to your mytake. I've heard a lot about this book already.
I had absolutely no experience similar to Jeanette. The closest thing I can think of is when I wanted to quit violin (since I never even learned how to play it anyway) when I was about 12 and switching schools. My mom was upset as I knew she would be and I was really dreading having the conversation with her. She was disappointed because we were a "musical family" since she played clarinet in school and my cousin who's one year older also played an instrument. She told me I couldn't do it and I queasily insisted that my mind was made up.
As anyone who knows me knows, when I say my mind is made up that's the end of the conversation and she understood that. So she was just disappointed. But I'm glad I told her because I would just have been wasting much more funds on the monthly violin rental.

Not by my parents, but my grandparents. They wanted me to learn piano, go to church, and dress like a proper girl. That didn't go well.
