And would you consider this a form of child abuse and should it be illegal? What is your view on the issue?

Personally I wouldn't pierce my child's ears and would let that be their decision. Me including all my female classmates and relatives, we all had our ears pierced when we were like babies. And I've had classmates, family friends, relatives pierce their baby's ears and a few of my classmates have taken their baby sons to get their ears pierced. But me I wouldn't pierce my baby's ears.

to me this is a non issue... or at least, I have never ever in my life heard of someone say " my parents abused me as baby, they pierced my ears and ruined my life"

ear pierced won't hurt a baby more than it would hurt a kid or an adult... and about the pain, they won't even remember the minimal pain of the moment either, but even if they do remember the pain, it will not be different that the one they would get from all their vaccines/shots they are going to get anyway

and about the "consent and choices and I didn't ask for it" well, a baby will not ask for many things lmao, they don't have a conscience developed like we all do but anyway... if a kid is to grow up with serious issues over earrings, then they just can take them off when they are a bit older and problem solved

No way! It's their body and if they want a piercing then they can ask to get them when they are older. Also hate seeing the babies 😢 I've watched a few baby ear piercing vids on tiktok and they make me just want to jump through the screen and snatch up the baby to protect it.

My mom got mine done at 2 months old then also allowed me to get a 2nd ear piercing at 8 years old. It would have been better if that was just my first instead of second piercing. It honestly created a addiction cuz then I went on at 15 to get like 6 more piercings (2 of which I did myself)

Yes. I would. It’s not a form of child abuse. I had my ears pierced at 6 months and my cousin had there’s pierced at 4 months. It’s not like it’s permanent and it’s better to do it while they’re young so they won’t even remember the pain.

No. A baby is a human being, not a fashion accessory. While it's not so bad as SOME procedures performed on babies that I could name, it's still inflicting pain for no real reason. I don't understand how someone can a person who's so helpless and reliant on them for everything, and knowingly and intentionally hurt them like that.

I did not have my babies' ears pierced for the sane reasons you gave. I don't have an issue with other parents making a decision to pierce their child's ears, as long as it's not something extreme.

No. I think it makes sense for them to choose on their own, even if they do so when they're young, but a baby is too young. It's common in my culture to do it to baby girls, I believe.

No, I literally cried when my mom did this to my little sister and then guess what, she pulled them out and it was basically unnecessary.
I said she can go and get them pierced, when she is 16 and wants to.

I'm not fond of having ears pierced. My wife took our daughter's out and got their ears pierced when they were young. Not fond of it because a person can take those lobes and rep their earrings out.
