It's not a real job. It isn't. You have to go back in time. It used to be that way. Everything depends upon who wears the pants. Sometimes the man must acquiesce.
For some people it is depending on the factors. I know couples who one works part time in the evenings and weekends, couples where one works a nightshift and one a day shift. Couples who maybe have a relative who helps them with child care. Couples who maybe one starts real early in the morning and one starts late in the morning that way there's someone there to drop the kids off at school and ond there to pick them up. Then there's couples where one stays home with the kids because they can afford to or because it makes more sense financially. People do whatever they have to to make ends meet.
It's definitely a luxury for women who don't want to go out and get a job. I don't think of it as an actual job, but it's a lot of work and it's neverending, especially when the kids are young.
It's not a real job. You don't have a boss, collect a salary, etc. Having said that, it's only a privilege and luxury insofar as your family can afford to do that. It is work, and it isn't easy, so a job, no; work, yes.
The work part of it is not rewarding. It seems like moms are always working and never get real quality time with their kids. That usually gets left for the dads when they have time off since everything is taking care of
They get to spend time with their children they get to see them when men don't get to. And that's the difference women see children and work and men see them out of love.

Well I'm sure if someone else was covering all the work the moms do they wouldn't see the kids as work either. It's the reason why rich people get nannys to do the hard shit so they're only left with the fun quality time part of having a kid
Most stay at home moms fall into the poor category. Middle class tends to both have to work cuz they are trying to living more fancy instead of learning to budget to make things work

Its both.
Its full time job and a luxury if you don't need to work another "real" job as well.

It's a real and it's a privledged and a luxury that few can afford
It's easier to afford staying home then it is affording daycare

Its neither.
Its above both in importance
It's a bit of both... a "luxury" that most couples cannot afford, and a "real job" that involves lots of activities.
It's definitely a luxury for women who don't want to go out and get a job. I don't think of it as an actual job, but it's a lot of work and it's neverending, especially when the kids are young.

The people that call it a luxury have no idea what effort goes into it
It's not a job. A family isn't a job, and whatever a stay at home parent is doing, they'd do it anyway even without a job.
It's a luxury, being able to live well with one salary while one is taking care of the house.
They get to stay home with their children with them in their lives children well cared for. And how is that not rewarding?

Definitely better than dealing with a boss all day and on their schedules , it’s just not affordable on one income usually
Stay at home moms just have tiny bosses that set the rules lol
Hope they tell HR about you 😊
My mom is a "stay at home" mom, but its because she works from home
Why people think women shouldn't work at all, is beyond me. Think it has to do with men being lazy
Most couple ls in the middle class both have to work just to get by..

Bending over all day long to pop in a DVD takes it's toll. Glad you brough this to peoples attention. lol
Apple it's definitely a real full time job.
I’d love to do that but it’s just not realistic lol
It’s definitely a luxury. But it’s still a job in itself.
I wouldn’t call it a luxury, but it’s not a job either
What happened to the other question:?
I accidently asked it anonymously so I asked again as myself
10-4.
How about luxury as in less of a job? I know working single moms who need to interrupt work as soon as there's something up with their kids.
