Is this generally how a father loves his kids too (loving them no matter what they do)?

I only have an older brother. Someone recently asked what can we do wrong for him to never speak to us again and what he thought about disowning a child?

His reply was ''Absolutely nothing''. He was disappointed to hear about people that reached that point of cutting contact forever with their own child.

The person then tried explaining him about rare extreme cases and then tried asking if the child tries to hurt the parent or finish them off. His reply was that the parent can still visit the child in prison and that we're still his children no matter what. He went on explaining he'll likely blame himself in that case and search for years on what he failed in, what he could've done better, if the child had any mental issues he ignored, etc.

My mother feels the same way but this is one of the rare times I've heard my father expressing himself in that manner. I'm impressed. Is this also the way fathers love their kids, unconditional no matter what?
