For instance my sister is a bit of obssesed with everything being up to date, or get rid of old things even if they still work, because that is a way for the person not to dwell in the past and look for the future as things need to be updated or buy new stuff and not store old stuff even if they continue to work.
My sister is married and she lives in a nice house not very big but nice, she and her husband are those who like to update things at her house, like change new phones every 2 years or renovate things at her house often and get rid of things even if they still work and can be useful but me my brother and mom are the totally opposite because my mom is elder we live in an old house the same we had shared with my parents (my dad passed away almost 9 years ago) and we dont have like extra money to do all the repairs thatt he house need, we fix things (not all at the same time of course) as we have money available and slowly. But my sister always complain that our house (the same she lived when she was single) is old it needs to be updated, it needs this and taht repair, we have to get rid of old stuff that is not needed anymore, I mean here I do agree as my mom and you know how elder people like, they like to be stuck with memories and keep things but not all the things in my house need to go to the trash but my sister believes many things at the house need to get rid of for the health and sake of everyone, she became a little obssesed in that over the years. I mean she complains and nag us but she does not collaborate either, by like giving us a bit of money to fix some things, knowing we dont have enough money for that, she only complains and nags each time she comes to stops by and visits us at home. SHe is always like a house inspector.
Anyway I have a yoga mat at my house that I still use because it is still usable only that is stained a bit and it is torn in just one corner of the mat but it is not it is totally tripped and

Eh, depends a lot on the items. Personal headphones? Updates a lot.
Our living room tv? apparently until it breaks, it currently has some of the random lines running down it. But it's also mainly used for ours kids and not us adults so may as well leave it for now!

Still have my PS3, and used one T. V. I had from 2004 to 2021.
I won't buy anything new until it ultimately breaks down.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If I have something that works perfectly well, I'd rather keep using it. I'm not interested in "upgrading".
