If you have siblings, do you enjoy a good relationship, or is it an adversarial relationship?

I have a brother, who is two years older, and we have always been at odds, in the way we live, how we have our homes, our friends, other relationships etc. I have talked to others who have one or more siblings, and they have the same problem. I have often wondered if "sibling rivalry is a universal problem for brothers/sisters?

What about GAG members? Do you have the same issues with siblings?

I've got a younger sister. She turns 19 in a couple of months. We have always been really close. I moved out on my own after I graduated my undergrad degree but she still comes over quite a bit to hang out with me. She's a sweetie and I love her to pieces. So you can say that our relationship is really good. Sorry to hear yours isn't the same. That sucks because family should be close. At least ideally it should. No way to make amends or is it too far gone?

He just went to Hawaii, to scatter his Spouses's ashes, and I was supposed to go too, but did not because of our 'conflict'. I sent him a Birthday card and some Meds to Honolulu, and he thanked me and seemed conciliatory, but this is a common thing for us. I will keep trying, and I THANK YOU for your comments! ❤❤❤❤❤

I have a younger brother and sister, 7 and 12 years younger than me. Both great kids, and I love spending time with them. My husband is also close to his brother. Both of our parents tried very hard to instill into us that siblings should be on the same team.

Sadly, my parents did not... I think our parents accidentally drove a 'wedge' between Jerry and I.

I'm sorry it's like that. Its really sad that a lot of parents just don't put enough thought into how they handle and treat their kids.

My only sister or half sister and I used to be a couple. We had no idea until our parents met up, turned out her mother had gotten pregnant by my father and had lied to her now husband to get him to marry her. So my sister on the same day lost her father and lost me.

I’m fortunate enough to have a great relationship with my brothers. We have our moments of course, but we have each other’s backs.

Now it's more like we've faded away from each other a bit.

But we lead very different lives and I'm especially bad a making those phone calls.
