I have a male online friend that visited me last Nov. My parents and I need him for a favor. We're going to pay him (all he has to do is agree to it and he won't have to pay anything) to get the job done. If he refuses, I'm going to unfriend and get rid of him.

In the past, I would be very forgiving to people that never helped me in anything in life meanwhile I would help them. I did favors for others and no one (except my parents and grandma) ever did any favor for me.

So with the exception of your family, is give and take and expecting something from others right? Nothing is free for nothing.

My father has gotten rid of people that never helped in anything too, that claimed they would do anything to help out and when given the chance don't or play dumb.

He hasn't asked me for a favor yet but I would if I get paid. The fact that we're going to pay him if he does that favor isn't that a lot already?

Okay, so I understand you’re sick of doing a lot for people and not getting the same in return — that is 100% valid. But that isn’t the case with this guy. Whether he’s asked or not, if you haven’t done any favors for him, then why does he get completely cut off if he doesn’t want to or can’t do something for you? How is that you being a good friend? It’s like punishing him for what others have done, which is completely unfair.
