If you have the financial ability and have a partner i think its a bit selfish. After all you have one duty on this world. Keep the world going, leave it better than you left it and leave it to the next generation.
No way! I have already taken the stance that I do not wish to have children. I simply don’t have those “maternal instincts” where I yearn to have babies. The only reason where I would have children, is when I feel pressured to do so by my parents. I would hate to bring a child into the world and not be able to look after it properly. Having children isn’t for everyone and it should not be perceived as selfish.
I don't think choosing to not have kids is selfish at all. Like someone on this website once said, who are they being selfish towards? Someone who doesn't exist?
@Peridot25 The first time I heard someone say that a married couple who doesn't want kids, is "selfish", I was a bit taken back. It makes no sense to call them selfish. It is actually somewhat noble I think. They aren't contributing to over-population.
Not at all. I don’t want kids either and if my partner wants to have kids and I don’t, then clearly we’re not compatible. Nobody should force you to have kids because at the end of the day as a woman anyways we’re the one who has to carry them and go through all that pain so if your partner is trying to pressure you into having children. They are the ones acting selfish not you.
No. There’s no sense in having children that you’re emotionally not prepared to care for for the remainder of your life. To do that, is indeed very selfish.
Overview Tay-Sachs disease is a rare genetic disorder passed from parents to child. It's caused by the absence of an enzyme that helps break down fatty substances. These fatty substances, called gangliosides, build up to toxic levels in the brain and spinal cord and affect the function of the nerve cells.
In the most common and severe form of Tay-Sachs disease, signs and symptoms start to show up at about 3 to 6 months of age. As the disease progresses, development slows and muscles begin to weaken. Over time, this leads to seizures, vision and hearing loss, paralysis, and other major issues. Children with this form of Tay-Sachs disease typically live only a few years.
Less commonly, some children have the juvenile form of Tay-Sachs disease and may live into their teen years. Rarely, some adults have a late-onset form of Tay-Sachs disease which is often less severe than forms that begin in childhood.
If you have a family history of Tay-Sachs disease or if you're a member of a high-risk group and plan to have children, health care providers strongly recommend genetic testing and genetic counseling.
You should re-read her replies. No offense to her, but she does seem to view those who don't want children as inferior, and doesn't seek to change it, because those people won't be good to their children
No. I think they are stupid and know they will regret it, but I regret waiting for Jeff Blake to kill himself when I was 14. It kills me that I wasn't there to watch him die, so who am I to judge.

People believe you’re selfish towards humanity because you’re not helping grow the population.

That is dumb as hell. Kids are a massive responsibility and some people who have kids shouldn't have and many who don't should have.
It doesn’t make them selfish , it just makes them honest that they aren’t capable of raising a child ,
The person who said that is a simplistic immature idiot.
That person is the one whose mother should have chosen not to have kids.
Case in point:
If you and your spouse are likely carriers of the gene for Tay-Sachs disease, having kids is pointless because your child will die.

Those people are immature, also selfish in the sense that they are likely to ruin their family.
What about parents who chose to have kids but abused their kids?
Oh, wait. If someone is a parent, that’s totally ok, right?
Fate worse than non-existence? abusing is not okay, that's a strawman argument.

You can post links all you want, but I applaud those who are honest. Being honest and knowing what’s best is the most mature thing.
I agree with being honest but I don't agree that not having kid is what best.
Believe whatever you want, but people are going to continue living their lives not giving a fuck what you say.
Remember, just because you want something doesn’t everyone else does.
*doesn’t mean
The asker seems to give a fuck, otherwise why she is asking that in the first place?
Why does anyone ask damn questions on this app? If they don’t care, why are they on here?
Why ask questions at all? Might as well get rid of this app.
Because they care, and you also very active on the comments here so you care.
You care also 🤷♀️
Yea but not as much as you, I saw that you made a lot of commons to people. :)
I mean that I saw that you made a lot of comments to people, not commons.
Probably, but I'm very glad when selfish people don't have children. People who do not want children certainly do not deserve children.
So we’re going to ignore the fact there’s parents who abuse their kids?
What makes you come up with that idea?
There’s a lot of parents who don’t deserve kids either.
Yeah obviously, and nothing I said indicates otherwise
I mean, think about it, two people don't want kids, and she gets pregnant.
That baby will come into the world as an unwanted life created, that's hardly an indication that the baby will be treated well by either of them
Exactly. And that's why I never try to convince people otherwise when they say they don't want kids
@LazerBean We need more people like you who respects those who don’t want kids.
Not too many people do. They always say, “You’ll change your mind.” I mean, many do but saying that shows they have no respect for your decision.
You should re-read her replies. No offense to her, but she does seem to view those who don't want children as inferior, and doesn't seek to change it, because those people won't be good to their children
Then I’ll take that title as “inferior.” I’m not on this planet to make everyone happy except myself.
I want to say no, but taking a look at the ladies who don't want kids, yeah, they tend to be very selfish and narcissistic
Just listen to Chelsea Handler talk for a few minutes, she's a prime example
Nope, it's a matter of choice, there are reasons which made the couple say no to kids!
I love kids but since i love them, i want the best for them, so if you can't give them your best, don't have them, period!
Not selfish, but maybe prudent. Being a parent is probably the biggest responsibility anyone can take on.
I’ve heard someone say this also, but I don’t agree with it.
No, they are just making a decision that is best for them. Everyone wants something different out of life.
Yes and no. Children are going to require a lot of your time in particular when they are young.
And some people feel they aren't cut to be parents, so better not bring kids into this complicated world if you don't want to be a parent.
Nope, and even if so, that's not a bad thing to look out for your own interests
No, not at all.
Why does someone have to have kids if they do not have an interest in being a parent?
Devoting your life to serve yourself is inherently selfish, yes.
Same with having kids and abusing them.
@Peridot25 I agree
No. I think they are stupid and know they will regret it, but I regret waiting for Jeff Blake to kill himself when I was 14. It kills me that I wasn't there to watch him die, so who am I to judge.
