I think the study looked at the wrong thing. Instead of seeing how different genders ranked them, how about different cultures? Or different ages? And why were only the women ranked? Why not the guys?

Us girls would probably be as harsh when ranking guys, however when ranking girls I am more easy going because they are more likely to suffer from self-esteem issues

@daj86 absolutely we are, very visual/spatially and tactile oriented gender, men. So if we see something that doesn't look right, we don't want to bother with it, and it actually makes logical biological sense as well. Is it a good idea to have children with someone who is more at risk of developing Type II diabetes? Nope.

In addition, the difference between a platonic relationship and a romantic relationship is whether or not you are having sex, i. e. getting physically intimate with the person. In that case, physical appearance and feel is of utmost importance.

If you want to base choices off of personality and mental features, that is great when choosing someone to have conversation with, hang out, learn from, but those are all features that are inclusive of platonic relationships. So, if you are smart, funny, witty, great personality, and have unattractive appearance, congratulations that is the friend zone, let's be good friends!

But to be physical, you need physical attraction.
