I have a girl and guy on my team with fairly visible Tats and piercings.
I recruited them for their skills as managers not on their looks.
the only real rule I have is when in meetings with customers that we know live in the dark ages, then simply cover a bit more and if possible remove or tone down some piercings lol.
rest of time and with suppliers I don’t really care, I want them working as managers, results not Tats n piercings is what’s important.
Also it is biased a lot of the time against girls with visible tattoos.
Also having been in military, things like parades etc are obviously tattoo free zones lol.
however on Ops etc, no one cares, and tbh become talking points about history of why that specific tat etc.
i admit I do have a bit of a fetish for Tats lol

I totally agree... I don't understand the "unprofessional" part. I was let go from a Physical Therapist position b/c when I wore the company polo, most of my bunny tattoos were visible. The owner was upset b/c she thought it presented a sleezy and tacky image to the clients. I told her I'd love to take them off during work hours, but unfortunately I can't. That was my last week.
I think it depends on your job. It can look unprofessional on certain jobs but I think in the future it will be more acceptable.
I still get weird looks at work if people see my tattoos but im professional and they get over it

While it's 2021 many people were raised in the 1950s & 1960s. So they have views reflecting their times.
Many may not have a problem themselves with tattoos but have clients who dislike them. So there are dress code rules against visible tattoos in the workplace.
I don't have any myself but my husband has one on his upper arm. It's visible if he wears a muscle tee or no shirt but in his normal business wear it's covered. All business's are customer base used. Therefore there simply doing what the customer would like, and if the customers don't like tattoo's than they don't hire people with tattoo's

If a police officer murders his wife, does that make murder "professional?"
I would not hire anyone with visible tattoos weather they are qualified or not it’s my company not theirs.
They mean white collar professionals
