I came across a photo on my Facebook page that just triggered me so much for some reason... it took me a while to figure out what it was, but then I realized it... the two girl's shorts stop at the very top of their thigh, while the boy's shorts go down to the knee. Besides just the photo itself, it's a really widespread phenomenon. Even when buying clothes for toddlers or children you will notice this, which is... rather creepy. Why would you want little girls showing off their thighs? At least keep the shorts length thing exclusive to adults and not forced onto children. I know that both men's shorts and women's shorts used to be super short in the 80's and before that, but in the 90's and forward they get longer and have stayed longer, showing that there is truly no good reason for the length. There's the fact that men's shorts are designed with practicality and function and comfort in mind, while women's shorts are designed just to simply look good for men, but is there any GOOD reason for women's shorts being so much shorter than men's shorts?
I'll never understand it. It's especially noticeable in school and in the Olympics. Male volleyballers wear long shorts and tank tops but the girls are in these tiny little shorts and tight tops. Or the beach female volleyballers are almost completely naked whereas the males wearing baggy clothes. Male runners are in baggy shorts and tops whereas the females are in crop tops and tiny bikini bottoms. If it's for competitiveness/edge then the guys would be half naked too.
Furthermore, girls are always complaining about dress codes. But, it's their own fault that they get dress coded for dressing the way the do. Guys show up to class in baggy jeans, tees, hoodies and baggy shorts whereas the girls are showing up in tiny booty shorts or crop tops. So, OBVIOUSLY, you're gonna get called out on it. Guys aren't showing up half naked.

Kinda. But in both directions.
What bothers me is that men's clothing, especially formalwear, is all about covering as much of the body as possible. We always like to say women are expected to cover up, but they can get away with showing a TON more than men. Topless is pretty much the only exception. It makes me feel like my body is gross and needs to be hidden at all costs.
But yeah the revealing or sexualized clothing on young girls weirds me out. I'm not gonna go around telling people what not to wear, but when an 8-year-old is wearing leggings that have "juicy" printed on the back, that just seems a little messed up. I feel like they need to have an oversized T-shirt and just focus on being a kid rather than jumping them into that stuff that early.
Widespread phenomenon? Lol you’re familiar with the evolution of men’s shorts, right? Because they weren’t always a “modest” length, they were actually quite short up until like the 80s. Even since then men wear shorter shorts, it varies from person to preference. Same for women and choosing shorter shorts. As for toddlers and children wearing anything above the knee that is you over-sexualizing garments of clothing.
You're right, it's sad that women's shorts are that short. Although I do think some women wear it for themselves (same way anyone would wear clothes to look cool or fashionable), it's unfair. We should have all men in booty shorts , granted with some changes so nothing extra ends up showing.

Women's shorts are designed just to look good for men? What? Lol. There aren't any female fashion designers out there making short shorts? Women don't want to look good for themselves? Then why all the make-up when they're not interested in dating? Ridiculous statement frankly.
When women start earning their own money and stop trading out their bodies for coin and status they will be able to wear longer shorts.
But they don't want to do that.
Let's be clear here, at this point women have the right to do everything men do, there is no social stigma of any kind and they are even given preferential treatment in order to make up numbers from historical differences and yet when a woman is given completely free choice on how to display herself to the world online the most common way of doing that is to post an image of their breasts.
Men are not choosing this, women do this to themselves.
This is some first-world Karen sh*t if I ever saw it. As if women don't choose their own clothing or have any agency... This reminds me of this other Karen I saw a year ago on here, complaining about Olympic swim uniforms for women, ignoring the fact the men don't even get to wear shorts... 🙄
Just put on some pants and buy another cat.Do you know why little girls' shorts are made the same as grown-up girls' shorts? It's done that way on purpose. It's to condition them to feel comfortable wearing clothing that exposes their body.
(Don't worry, though. It's not pedophilia; it's misogyny.) (SARCASM)The ''GOOD'' reason to wear any length is, because someone likes it like that.
No one is forced to. If one walks with the crowd, then it's voluntarily.
As to ''forcing'' garments on children: isn't ''the other way round'' the same principle of 'forcing' ?
I owned plenty of long shorts until I got older and started getting hot way faster and realized that shorter shorts were both way cooler and more comfortable.
Yes, it's as if the guy's longer shorts are a combination of smirking at my shorter shorts, yet with an unconscious feeling of guilt about it that they nevertheless possess at the same time. It's weird
Yes, there's a good reason- the best reason, in fact: women BUY them. Evidently, they WANT them more. Enough demand would change the production mighty quick, but it's not there.
I never cared, but I always felt bad for women during the really hot months when they're wearing those skimpy shorts and trying to get into leather seated cars
I want men to wear a burka and I want women nude.
As if the girls did not choose to wear those.
The picture bothered me. I can just buy longer shorts if I want to.
Normally my girlfriend and her mom wear shorter than normal shorts.
Looking good on them tight fitting.
well womens shorts don't have to hide dicks and balls xD
Girls have nothing that have a chance of falling out if too short.
If only women knew how to design and sew clothes and put normal-sized pockets on them, if only... 🤞
So they don't look like frumpy dykes in big baggy men's shorts?
Wrong way round. Women's shorts are normal. Mens shorts are longer for a reason (so nothing dangling there pops out)
To be fair women do have better legs than men./jk
Selfishly I like it so, no, doesn't bother me.
