The 1960s were full of loud psychedelic colors and patterns, like the dresses the women in the picture are wearing.
Should these colors make a comeback? Or should they remain in the past?

I was a bit to young in the 60s but, was fascinated by what I saw of psychedelia on TV and in movies.
Wild psychedelic light shows were a major thing when I went to dances beginning in 7th grade. I loved it!
Psychedelic music, art and fashion was still popular when I entered high school in the fall of 1969.
Bell bottom pants were popular. You could even rip the side seem of regular Levis and sew brightly patterned fabric from the cuff to the knee to turn them into hippie bell bottoms. That, along with embroidery, was a girl's thing.
But when you wore out your Levis, you would cover the holes with embroidered patches or brightly colored fabric. Pre-worn/torn jeans weren't a thing. We wore them out ourselves.
Lots of girls wore mini-skirts or brightly patterned dresses combined with flowers and accessories.
You could find vintage clothing at thrift shops and mix and match bright, clashing colors with scarves and hats to get a gypsy look.

I hung out a lot with the hippie clique in high school. I was also a guitarist, loved psychedelic and prog rock, started going to concerts, and eventually became a really good lead guitarist and vocalist in garage bands. I wanted to be a rock star, so I grew my hair long and started trying to look like one.

I just found this interesting 16.5 minute podcast about '60s psychedelia and psychedelic fashion. It has some good images and information. I didn't realize it's relationship to 19th century art nouveau. I was aware of it's relationship to LSD.
Anyway, I like some of those fashions. They were whimsical and a person could be totally unique. Plus, the colors were cheerful.
It wasn't all about women showing off their tits and asses and guys with gym bods trying to look imposing.
The designers and palette-predictors are the ones who actually "pick" "colors of the year", etc., just so that we are urged to spruce up our homes with new palettes of colors every few years. They make the colors they pick with just enough difference that they just won't "be right" with the older colors.
That said, I'm not ready for psychedelic intensity again. I'm not even ready for Butterfly Gold dishes and Avocado Green appliances from the 70's either.
Thanks for the MHO.
I am really sick of so many people wearing BLACK!!
It began around the 1990's as the most popular color to wear. Most girls and women owned "The Little Black Dress"! I know that I did
Then black leggings became popular and to this day women and girls are still wearing them no matter what body shape they have.
Take a look at cars. What's the most popular color car? Black!! And after black comes white or silver. If you see a car other than these 3 colors more than likely the customer had it special ordered for a different color.
Before wearing black became so popular to wear, people only wore the color black to attend a funeral.
Perhaps that's why there's so much sadness and people are depressed - it's because people are wearing clothes like they are going to a funeral.
Personally I love the pastel colors because they are soothing for people to look at. That's what I like to wear. Also my new apartment has a lot of pastel colors everywhere. (pink, baby blue, light yellow, mini green and lavender).
In the olden days the medical profession all wore pastel colored uniforms. My doctor's office personnel and my doctor all wear black uniforms. I feel like I am walking into the police station instead of a doctor's office.
BRING BACK COLOR TO AMERICA!! IF COLORS SURROUND US WE MIGHT NOT BE SO SAD AND DEPRESSED!!

What a great question! Just looking at the colors of the clothes on the pics lifts your mood and delivers a huge serotonin boost. Lliam also gave an excellent answer; very informative and fun
Absolutely yes, I'd love to see the psydelic colors like magenta, bright orange, pea green, sunny yellow, tangerine, lemon, lime, cobalt blue, fuchsia, come back to fashion... I'm so sick of this bland, realism/minimalism aesthetic that has dominated Western fashion for the past 15-20 years... The situation improves slightly in the summer, but during winter everyone where I live, seems to dress in black from head to toe.. The same trend has even prevailed in Christmas decorations and you observe these monochromatic Christmas tree decorations and horrible artificial white led lights that remind me of a hospital room...
I personally like wearing colorful clothes and have decorated my room in vibrant hues especially in pastel shades, but I hate the attention they draw, as most people my age in my area wear black or white colored clothing, or grey and khakis at best... I donโt know why and when dressing colorfully started being considered tacky/garish, but they couldn't be more wrong. These pics are the proof that these colors can be combined in an artistic and creative way without being too overpowering
Those vibrant 1960s colors definitely have a charm that can add a fun pop to modern fashion. Incorporating those retro hues and patterns could bring a fresh, joyful touch to today's styles, making them feel both nostalgic and new. But hey, fashion's all about personal taste, so it's great to mix and match based on what makes you feel good! 🌈โจ

I'm all for moving forward. Those colors make me think of an era where people would get high and meditate. I like colors but I'm more for using colors the way South Korea does at the moment. If I'm right didn't the 80s also use bright colors and had vibrant designs? I would much rather that come back than the 60s. However, I saw pink shirts being sold in the men's section of a retail store a couple weeks back. So maybe it's making some sort of comeback? I feel like we are doing all sort of different styles except Y2K fashion is more prominent right now.
I actually saw a woman yesterday in what I could only describe as bell bottom leggings, and they were in that popular daisy motif that was prevalent in those days. I kind of like it, and kind of think itโs ugly at the same time. Iโm torn, haha.
sure bring it back i love the miniskirts from 1966
It isn't worse than a Hindu Temple colour scheme.
Give these things a chance. But I don't think that presently too many people will be interested.
No not how it exactly was. Some colors are nice but in the way they did it? NO. Though again I do'nt care for overly saturated colors.
Ig.. but I think itโd be cooler if everyone just had access to all the previous styles in fashion. This way anyone could wear what they want instead of everyone having to wear the same thing and for a long frame of time
I meant those colors shouldnโt be accessible only if everyone wore it, making it an โofficial comebackโ,
Anyone who wants to wear that or something else should be able to wear it all by themselves. Even if it is back or not
The 1960s had some great fashion, but the LSD colors are not one of them.
I think they'd work well as beach/summer dresses. I could picture them being worn around here.
Fake news, that picture was not taken in the 60s.
Obviously. You wouldn't have a black woman sitting with whites back then in America.
That's a common misconception. We loved our slaves in the South and would even share a bed with them. The issue is with her clothing -- she needs to be in a linen apron.
I'd say they had there day, let them rest in peace!
thereโs always a couple tie-dye shirts sold but I donโt believe that itโs gonna be a big giant thing
It's bleak enough out there especially here in Scandinavia. Bring in the colour at least so you can be seen in the dark at night
Fuc no. Those are over. We donโt need to live old fashioned
Only way that would work now, would be if it was side-seam highlight-trim.
Each era has it's positive side but the concept of the 60's and 70's i just find them cool!
yes, and bring back bell bottoms.
Absolutely , lets see some colour !
The music was great but fashions were awful!
They do anyway, whether we want them to or not.
Sure, if the broads in the dresses have big boobs !!!
To each their own but not my style
I grew up with some hippie girls so bring it back
Yes, yes, and heck yeah!!
Nooo they donโt fit anymore
It looks good on a lot of women.
Doesn't everything come back eventually?
No way.
Of flying course!
