What does it mean when a guy says "I got your back"?

I think it means that he's there for you. If you ever need anything, you can turn to him for help. My roommate experienced that. She's very close to this guy on our brother floor and they both work as lifeguards for the college swimming pool. It was Thanksgiving and her classes ended on Wednesday, so she could go home by then but because she had her lifeguard shifts on Thursday and Friday she would've had to stay. So she sent an email asking if anyone (amongst the lifeguards) wanted to exchange shifts. Then she receives a text from the guy saying I got your back. Apparently, he told their boss that he would take her shifts and he didn't even want to exchange with her. He would just take the shifts so she could go home.
Thanks and cool
It means... he has... your back. He's there for you.
Thanks.
It means the same as if he told it to anyone. He got your back, and he'll back you up if you ever need to. Well, you know he cares about you I guess. But it could just be some friendly thing.
Thanks.
He has "your back"
Lol thanks for the video.
