How should I respond to his flirting?

When you like a girl and are flirting with her/trying to give her signals, if you don't get a response do you just move on to the next best thing? Or does it make you want her more?

There's this guy that's been giving me a lot of signals and I want to know what response I would get from him if I DON'T make a pass back at him, would it make him try harder or to let go?

There is no way to tell. Every guy is different. I'd say if you're willing to risk it, there is a good chance you could make him want you more by playing hard to get. Thing is, why would you want to do that? It seems he already likes you enough to flirt with you. If you like him back you should probably let him know. There will be plenty of real world circumstances down the road where you will learn how emotions impact people (there will be guys you like that don't like you back, guys that like you but you don't like, guys who like you despite your unavailability, on and on). While certainly I've known girls to master the "art of emotions", I'd say you're better off, especially at such a young age, to be true instead of playing games. That said, if you want to try to tease him, you'll have to lead him on a little. You need to reward his advances, but subtly. If you ignore his signals, it won't make him want you more, but if you give him some subtle hints you might like him, he'll keep coming back for more.

I'm guessing you are talking about younger guys, but I might be able to help you out. Guys under 18 are still new to dating, so they aren't going to know what they are doing in the first place either. If they keep dropping hints and the girl ignores them, they'll start to look at other girls. They'll still flirt with the girl they were giving hints, but they won't try as hard- figuring she just isn't interested and they don't want to make a fool of themselves. After all, if you were trying to get a guy to notice you and he seemed to ignore you all the time- would you really want to try harder and possibly end up looking foolish? Of course, there are always the one or two odd guys who will stop at nothing and don't mind looking like idiots trying to get a girl they really want.

Depends on the guy. Some will push harder and others will assume you don't like them and they'll stop trying.

Look at other areas of his life - is he competitive and confident? Does he like challenges and believe in himself enough to try until he succeeds? Or is he shy, laid back or otherwise "go with the flow"?

That should tell you what kind of reaction you'd get based on your actions. Good luck

Depends on the guy. I usually give a girl 2 or 3 strikes, then she's out.

For example, there's this girl I've been trying to date for a little while now and she's blown me off twice for lunch. I had just about given up on her till she invited me to go snowboarding, only to bail on me because we couldn't find anyone else to go besides the two of us. Strike three, I'm done pursuing a girl that's clearly a waste of my time.

If I had more than one girl I was interested in, I'd move on to the next girl. When a girl doesn't respond to my signals, I figure she doesn't like me so I move on.
