I met this guy a few weeks ago in college. He’s in one of my classes that happen a couple of times a week. He’s very very different from the guys I’ve liked before. I usually date or like the laidback attractive guys. I usually date someone similar to me lol. Anyways he’s very strong on his beliefs in class and expresses them and knows about almost every political topic we talk about. He always gives input to a question the professor asks. Every single time he talks in class he looks at me while talking. He’ll like glance at the professor then back at me but for the most part looks directly at me while talking.
He talked to me once before class because we both got there early but it was about the class. He’s friends with this other guy in the class who’s super flamboyant and married.
Today I mentioned in class that I went on a weekend outing with a love interest and after I said that I noticed the guy didn’t look at me while speaking at all while he was talking in class lol but maybe I’m overthinking even though I’m sure he didn’t.

Later in the class I made a point to really look at him while he was speaking. He chooses to sit opposite me and I swear to you I felt such a strong vibe while looking at him. It felt like we were the only ones in the room and I kept looking at his lips and almost wanted him to notice which I think he did. I got really turned on while we were looking at each other and he was speaking to the point where I had to turn away and kinda breathe lol.

Is this what sexual tension is? Lol

What did HE do in this class? Was he speaking to you or the professor? He's looking at you when he's talking?

This is all very confusing but actually important and goes to properly answering your question.
Your story - while I am not denying it's veracity - is coming across as inconsistent which is why I am puzzled.

Why would he be looking at you while talking to the professor?
How is this classroom laid out?
Are the desks in a circle or something?
When I taught in the 1980s, all the students faced towards me...

Yeah the desks are in a circle and he sits across from me or diagonal ( he always sits somewhere in my eye line ) and will keep gazing at only me for long periods when he’s answering something the professor said

You are not overthinking this. He may actually have had a shift in attraction toward you because of it. By mentioning that there was someone else, he will feel less attracted because he doesn't want compete are deal with any drama if he did.

So, I am under the impression that, early in the class after you said that, he wouldn't look at you, but, later, he would. I'd think that might be force of habit and/or that his emotions became calmer.

As to whether he is still attracted to you (if he ever was - and I think he was), that I can't say, but the next few classes should help you discern that.

However, if you have any interest in this guy, don't discuss any other men in your love life at this time.

Yeah thanks! It’s like a variation of history kind of like African American studies. I’m an English major
