Or is it better to just straight up have a conversation about this? He loves cookies so I've made them for him a couple times and wrote a message on them. Or suggested going to a place that he enjoys for a date. I just bought something small I thought he'd like the other day and want to give it to him...but sometimes I feel like I'm doing all the giving/work.

He did this when we first started dating, but I don't feel appreciated now. I would like him to initiate taking me out sometimes to a movie or a restaurant I like.

be honest and tell him these exact words, I want to be thought of and treated with creativity and sweetness. Every now and then a girl needs to be reminded that the guy knows his place to support his girl and treat he like she is his queen and still cute and adorable to him. This is his job. It is his job to remind you so you know that there is your guy out there willing to go above and beyond for his women cause life is untimely and you never know when our time is up. Every day I make sure my lady knows she is on my mind and being thought of. I am a huge believer in its the guys job to keep his women sweet and innocent and interested so she can keep him steady headed and in a sound mind so he can do what he needs to do and the other way around as well. its a support thing. Please believe me you should be innocent and the most important person in his life and he should always want to see you happy and smiling like a little girl. And other way around but boy of course. That's when you know you have a worthy person in your life that's deserves your attention and love!

Just talk to him about it and tell him what you want. Guys don't usually pick up on subtle clues. They have a much easier time figuring out what you want when you flat out tell them what you want.
