Why does he kiss me, but hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend?

whenever we're done hanging out, he always kisses me goodnight or goodbye, but he hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend. we're pretty much dating (flirting, hugging, kissing, exclusiveness etc), except we're always with another couple and rarely by ourselves. He doesn't have an income right now, so I was thinking that maybe since he's unable to actually take me out, he hasn't made any official moves like that. But I don't care about going out and showing off our relationship, all I want is me to be his, and him to be mine, since this has been going on for a couple months. (we've known each other for over a year)

And when I say we're exclusive, the only other female he talks to is his mother or his sister, so I know he's not trying to play me.

Why are you even talking to this guy? Can't you do better? But to try to answer your question, why would he want to commit himself or try himself down when he's getting what he wants out of you already? If it's not official, it's not official. Not being his official girlfriend means that he doesn't have to respect you as much or publicly acknowledge the relationship. It may also be that due to his complete lack of income, he feels that he can't provide for you. Be just friends, or be the official girlfriend. Anything in-between eventually turns into trouble.

Tell him exactly what you typed up there..that you don't care about doing things, but want to spend time with just him.

Some guys just never ask officially if you want to be their girlfriend I don't know why though! :P My boyfriend never asked before and I asked once why he didn't ask he said cause he thought I knew I am his girlfriend already since we were doing all the couple stuff already! :P Maybe they are shy? Is he a shy guy?

Indeed, I never asked officially, it just grew naturally from being acquaintances, hanging out together to kissing to making out to a relationship to a marriage.
