Do waitresses get tipped more if they are attractive?

Question

I am considering working as a waitress as a few people have told me since I am attractive I will make a decent amount in tips. I was wondering how much truth to this there is. Do you tip more if you find the server desirable? Waitresses, do you notice this being accurate for yourself or other pretty co workers?

I think it probably is pretty true. I think people want to show that they have a good amount of money to people they like/ think they will get something in return if they tip them well.

I think that attractiveness plays a big part in the waitress job, when you look more attractive the customers also feel good that a beautiful woman has served her. But being attractive is not the only part. If you serve in a clean manner and get their orders much faster then their are even higher chances to get tips. I would suggest you to work more on your serving skills because people already think you are attractive. Good luck for the job.

generally attractive people do better across life as a whole. I served for many years, and I found that it's all about reading the table. If a table is in a rush, serve them quickly, tell the kitchen. If a table wants to converse, indulge them. If a table wants to b left the fuck alone and drink their sorrows away, don't hover around them, let them be.

I worked in a restaurant and it's ridiculous how much more pretty waitresses make. It's so bad that they usually feel bad and end up sharing their tip money with the others at the end of the shift, because otherwise the guys and plain girls would take home practically nothing. Not enough to keep showing up. The pretty girls would make $200-300 a shift or more on a slow night, and everybody else would be doing good to clear $100 on a good day.

A pretty waitress usually gets a great tip even if she sucks. You can forget shit, get orders wrong, get things mixed up, ignore your tables, it just doesn't matter. People still piss their money away on you. Meanwhile the plain girls and dudes can bust their fucking ass all night and give five-star service and it just doesn't matter. They still make chicken scratch compared to the hot girls.

However, there are exceptions. Sometimes you'll get a table of Karens who will undertip and over-complain because they're jealous and hateful, but that doesn't happen all that often. Once or twice a week at the most, those people just don't come to restaurants all that often. Unless it's a brunch place. It kind of depends. But for the most part, most of the time, you'll make so much money you'll feel bad about it.

It is ABOUT THE SERVICE!!! Even if she is 'Hot' and even 'Flirty' and does a shitty job, like not checking back, not refilling drinks, and making us wait for a long time, or have to ask for the check, then she is NOT getting much of a tip!
The whole point of tipping, is to reward EXCELLENT SERVICE, in those jobs where people interact with the client!
I do have to admit, though, with great service, I might tip a 'flirty' and very attractive one more. Not always, but it depends on the interaction, and ONLY talking about restaurants and NOT BARS!

Personality and quality of service matters most. I do enjoy the interaction more with a waitress that is attractive and has an equally attractive personality, but I have given bad tips to beautiful waitresses because their personality and service sucked. Service is actually second to personality, because I understand things being rough but if your personality is good and you act like you're trying and you try to be friendly, then we're good and you'll get a good tip. If you're cute and have a beautiful smile, that may even get you an extra dollar or two. Lol

Its the truth. But you should know you can flirt for tips. If you act cold and all you won't get tipped good or maybe nothing at times. Especially if you look good if you act like a b**** they're going to think of you as a b**** and tip 0

My friend was tall and blond and skinny and she told me when she was a waitress she made amazing tips but quit cause she hated fending off thirsty guys all day long. My other friend was a bar tender at 18 and made $600 a day but quit cause she was sick of getting hit on by guys all day long.

Most people on this app gets something confused... attractiveness isn't everything to everyone..

And more people are attractive than you think if you look..

It's not just the looks but also being friendly and sweet. And trying to make the customer feel comfortable and like you're being nice to them/giving them 'special treatment'. Looks help of course, but having the full package is what gets you the big tips

No, that is not a reliable way to get more tips. The most reliable way is to provide excellent service. People will notice Ans they will give you more. People care more about how they are treated Ans how they feel rather than how pretty you look.

It may be more prevalent with younger men in groups, or a single guy, but a family outing is likely to tip based on service and their income. However, if you're working at Hooters and fill out your uniform really nice, you'll get better tips than then the girl who doesn't, unless your personality and service totally sucks.

Perhaps at a strip club or at a bar (having worked in both) but obviously majority are attractive there, that is why people go so they tip accordingly.

Working in restaraunts, I can tell you people dont care at all. I work with a 65 year old man and a 60 year old woman. They usually rake in even more than I do and I'm pretty attractive.

Not technically no. If your a bad waitress you will get bad tips regardless. That said it’s harder for less attractive girls who are good waitresses to get as good of tips as good and attractive waitresses

I think the ones that are really friendly and charming gets tipped more, I wouldn’t say looks gets you a better tip than someone who makes you feel really comfortable and friendly.

They probably do. If you are attractive looking, don't rely on that. Just make sure you do your job right. The attractive looks are an added bonus. I always tip if the service is good though. Otherwise i don't.

Yes. We’ve had studies go into it. They absolutely do.

Men get less than women, and attractive women get more than other women, even get more tips from other women. There’s a clear advantage women have in anything in hospitality.
