Nowadays it's mostly bought as an ingredient for coffee cakes or by old ladies worried about coffee shortages if we go to war with Brazil.
But I reckon most people in the UK have drunk it once in their life.

Much like her chicory coffee, I get ignored in my mom's basement.. I could probably use some help in my life, but I'm one of the reasons why people think all trolls are losers who never amount to anything. They bully me, call me a nasty troll, and I just don't know if I'll ever be able to walk upstairs and face the real world. It's probably why I relapse into talking about inappropriate and off-topic subjects until I eventually get booted off the forum. But alas, the shelf full of chicory coffee is a sad reflection of my own personal struggles and failure to form a meaningful connection with anyone.
Thanks @jennz6. Do you think I'll ever integrate into this world of caring people who have genuine things to say about topics such as fast food and their average time to ejaculation? And then politely spell check it?
from what I remember, chicory is not coffee.
I had searched about it before when my mom had health problems and I was trying to find a healthy alternative to coffee and found that supposedly chicory is healthier option, it's not coffee but can certainly take the place of coffee.
I bought it and literally tried it only 1 time. and give it to my mom exactly that 1 time.
we then remodeled the kitchen and who knows where it went! 🤷♀️
he health went back to normal and she's drinking coffee like normal lol she never stopped we only tried it that one time and the chicory is lost somewhere in the boxes that we packed up to remodel lol
from what I remember it didn't taste bad but it didn't taste so much like coffee but then again that was my first and only time making it, perhaps you have to add more or less to make it taste more like coffee
I tried this a child, it was Chicory mix with some roasted grain. It's wasn't good but I didn't like bean coffee at this time either.

I once visited my friend who claimed he saved on energy bills and doesn't own a fridge. He also knew that refrigerators attract burglars at night and he didn't want his window broken most of all. So he stored all food and drinks in his basement and invited me over to a trolling party. Offerimg me some, he said the funkiness of of the sour chicory root coffee happened because of natural bacteria and mold in his basement, to which I was used to. I was grateful to have that, freshly after having had to walk outdoors to reach his secluded home, i had the opportunity to give my sweaty balls some fresh air. There wasn't any taste or smell to frighten me. So, I got intoxicated with this clown's sour coffee, and don't really remember what happened next.

Is Chicory still used in the UK? Haven't see it for a long time. I like Nestle's condensed coffee for camping. It's a tube with sweeten condensed milk and coffee. It was the best thing thing about camping.
Eco I think was another coffee substitute I haven't seen for a long time. I do like the label and would buy the product for that alone. I can't make out the ethnicity of the man next to the scotsman. Is he an Indian gentleman? Real Indian as in India Indian.
Quite like Clive curry for the label too.
No, I never heard of that particular "camp" drink you're mentioning, but then, there are a lot of drinks involving chicory and coffee, mostly to be dissolved in hot water. Can't be that bad ;0)
On the other hand, during many years, my wife and I drank regularly in the evening chicory prepared as one would do with real plain coffee: a filter and hot water. Delicious, and no danger for one's night rest ;0)
During decennia it has been a tradition in my country to add a little chicory to coffee. That way the coffee becomes a bit softer, and darker (you guess why ;0)... Sure this has originally something to do with past wars and coffee shortages, when people only had chicory.
I drink coffee to be exposed to the beans and to relax, not really for the taste, unless it’s a specialty cappuccino. I believe herbs are good for you and I mix 3 herbal teas with boiled garlic in my drink every morning.
Yes I had chicory coffee in New Orleans and wow was it a shock to the system.
No, I heard of it but I haven’t seen any in the grocery store.
I've had it. It wasn't that bad. It wasn't a substitute for coffee at all though.
Yes. It is consumed often alone, or with a mixture of coffee in Louisiana, and probably the south. It is said that the Native Americans were the culture that passed on this knowledge to the new Settlers in the South.
i've had it. taste like a cigarette. not a fan
Never, but often drink chicory milk at my grandmother.
Never. But then I've hardly ever drunk coffee.
Never heard of it.
I will look for it on Amazon.
Never drank it. I have never even heard of the stuff before this.
I think I seen it before, but no I never tried it
