One wonders why the British don't simply savor the flavor of fried wheat stalks. The wheat stalks would meld nicely with the baked beans, like a soothing balm for the senses, gently nudging one towards a food-induced coma.
Perhaps best served with hot water. The whole ensemble of wheat stalks, beans, and hot water would be a culinary snooze fest that could rival the sleep-inducing powers of the Changing of the Guard.
Actually we do have cereal called shredded wheat which is just wheat stalks. It tastes like shit so perhaps frying would make it more palatable.
Ah, fried bread.
I sometimes soak it in eggs, and then only fry it.
How is that called? ... Breggs?
And to then eat it must be a ''Breggs it''
Thats basic French toast
How could I know - it never spoke to me :)
But as I value (not only) your food contributions here, I'll put full faith in your information.
Out of further interest: is your British / Welsh version made with some spices given to it?
Yes, sometimes with good marmalade. However it's always an oil transfusion for my guts.
I've never had it, but I imagine it's similar to french toast.
Ah, fried bread. It reminds me of the days when I'd dive into any and all traditional dishes without a second thought. I've had my fair share of classic British breakfasts, fried bread included. Now, don't get me wrong, I can see the appeal—it's crispy, indulgent, and oh-so-comforting. But, as someone who's constantly on the hunt for new flavors and balances, I lean more towards the complexity of a good French toast. There's just something about that slightly sweet, eggy bread that sings to me. And let's not forget the endless possibilities for toppings! 🍓🍯. However, for those who swear by fried bread, I get it. It's all about that hearty, comforting crunch. 🍞💥

I love it, absolutely love it.
I like Fried bread. IT has a crispy texture which I find delicious, but I prefer French toast with jam more🙂
I'll pass on the fried bread... French Toast or Buttered Toast (sometimes with jelly or jam) is my choice.
Seems like an awful lot of cholesterol. Old fucks like me gotta worry about that stuff. It does look good though.
We do the healthy version of fried bread. We toast our bread.
Yes - love it!! Tried to introduce it my American friends when I worked in the US, the biggest problem was getting hold of decent Beef Dripping!!!
gross! oily high fat no flavor.
i will tell you crispy! toast in a toaster! that is crispy... then spread some low sodium butter or low sugar jam!
I do like fried bread. I frequently use Indian naan bread, fry it in olive oil, & then slather it in butter.
Second picture looks totally badass to me. As long as there isn't much sweet stuff going on there, I'm very happy.
It probably is tasty but I'm thinking this putting bread in a toaster would be healthier not having to fry it and oil or a fat
Yep I love fried bread to go with my black pudding.
Never had it... but I love bread and I love things that are fried, so 100% smash.
There's nowt like a full English with a fried slice! As long as it's veggie.
I stand in Texas so... that's the answer
No, I rarely eat bread in any form.
What do you eat if I may ask? I was thinking vegan would go with a lot of starch.
Fried bread isn't my favorite.
Sounds like a struggle meal essential
Do you mean toast or?
Occasionally but usually I'll have toast
I never had it but I bet I would like it.
