The last time I posted anything on Insta was 5 months ago, the last time I tweeted was more than a year ago, the last time I snapped was more than 2 years ago, and the last time I posted a FB post was more than a year ago. I never posted an actual picture of myself on any social media platform. With the exception of one time in middle school when I did but quickly replaced it with a wallpaper cause of self-confidence issues.
To answer your question, I guess some girls do that cause
- They either feel like their last profile picture really sucked
- They just feel like changing it cause they're bored
- They feel prettier a certain day
- Insecurity plays a HUGE part. If another classmate posts a better looking picture than theirs they feel the urge to post a better one. I don't care if it's with filters, extra contrast, maybe some brightness adjust, etc. Maybe they will even wear something flashier. Believe me, I've seen my former high school classmates do some REALLY weird things.

First of all, it's not all girls but most girls are vain with social media since they put effort into their clothes, hair or make up to look pretty while they young or they like the attention or feel valued by their looks or they love self expression... to put it in an analogy, most men obsess about sports right? They get drunk, wild and loud, do fantasy football, put on body paint or some costume or wear their team color, they like to express themselves through the game by living through the players or sport... It validates them in some way so no more fighting over gender nor stereotyping either lol
I don't know why either tbh, I'm a 19 year old girl and I'm really not into social media at all. I made a Snapchat for my crush to add me but that's all, I mean I use it and it's fun but I can definitely live without it. I can't stand instagram and twitter is fun but I don't really post or care about my followers I just browse occasionally, same with Tumblr. & I just check up on Facebook for family every now & then.
Overall Tumblr is my fave but I'm nowhere near as into social media as everyone else my age.
Simple put, women are more likely to be social than men.
Now I use Snapchat because I like the idea if I experience something funny or cool I want to share only with my friends even if it’s embarrassing then it deletes after a day.
Girls enjoy Snapchat because of the same reason any person but Instagram is different. Instagram is just like any social media platform but certain individuals use it for attention.
There is a girl out there who takes pictures of her body and shares it all day long which could be promoting her fitness goals or Path in a healthy life OR she just really likes attention.
To eachs own, everyone is different
Girls often feel more insecure compared to guys especially on Social Media and feel the need to continually upload pictures and charge part of their profile to make them look better - they feel pressured by other Girls of their same age usually.
I don't really use Instagram or anything or do any posts as I don't really see the point in it.

It's because they have become addicted to social media just like Alcohol. See video below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL8AsaEJDdoThey care for attention and they get a lot of compliments and attention.
It's all about the attention. When I used to post more pictures to social media it wasn't because I was bored or just thought the pictures were cute or cool. It was because I was hoping for certain people to notice and like my pictures. The likes and comments also made me feel more confident. Granted this isn't always the case, but it was for me and is the case for many of the girls I know.
We girls love attention. Any girl who denies this is a liar. It's just a matter of how much a girl is willing to do for said attention.
Anyhow, social media is like an instant attention injection. Post picture-get the likes from strangers- feel good.TBH I am one of the few who does NOT and i literally kind of hate instagram. I couldn't care less about what the stupid things the girls in my grade are doing... I am more focused on myself and family and my goals. I rarely post on instagram in fact the last time I posted was in May.
Because girls are quite serious about there social standings either in real or net, for example just take the situation to go out for just buying a simple thing a boy won't hesitate to go out in just whatever state he is in home but a girl will think about to get ready n have some maybe make up just for 10 min of outside walk.
Well these days it pays to be an instagram icon. The more attention u get, the opportunities for sponors and more influemce you have over people buying your business. Especially instagram models. Social media created a new market for it. It's a win win for both Company and instagramer :)
I used to do it a lot when I was younger and when Facebook was popular, but now I just get in fb, Snapchat or Instagram when I get bored not to post but watch videos or whatever else is on there. Sometimes I'll post but not as much as other girls. I think they do it for attention and to have fun. I get on bc I'm bored and I'm sure others girls do the same.
I dont use snapchat it is for idiot attention seeking teenage girls who like to send nudes to dudes as far as i understood, or for unsatisfied porn addict guys to follow porn stars disguising under "cosplay" stars. for facebook i checked that last time i updated was back in December 27th 2014. and no status posting either.
Women are more open and usually create more content. And no, most of instagram isn't just "slutty" pictures, if you think that you've never really been on instagram and if you do you only follow friends and models, but even then its 100% fine to want to show your appearance to others.
Actually you shouldn't underestimate it, you'dbe surprised how many people get found because they post according to specific interests and get given perks, whether it be pay or adverts
They love attention and validation from the man that see their pictures online, even if they say they hate guys going in their dms, they love it, it makes them feel wanted, watch out for the one that are always posting sexual pictures of themselves they are not someone you want to be in a relationship with.
When i like my new pic and it looks iconic (i haven't changed my pic here for 2 years though but onther social medias i change whenever i want to)
As for bio, every time i have a new idea or something that sounds nice that should be quoted. I often change this one tooI've never understood that either. The only pictures I post on Instagram are nature or animal pictures and I only ever snap my sister.
I guess it's for the attention. It's the stigma that girls have to have a perfect online presence. Most teenage girls are pressured into making sure that their social medias are perfect. I know a lot of girls who don't like to post often but they do because everyone else does. It has a lot to do with the way society sees women and how they have to be the picture of perfection. So a girl might change her bio or profile picture often, to try and achieve that perfection.
Beuae they like to draw attention to them by posting naked pics or revealing potos of themselves in order to feel validated or in order for them to know people like them.
I make easy money off it, and I'm not going to stop.
Why do you care about our actions, focus on yourself.Females are more expressive than males. This expression encompasses creativity (fashion, makeup etc), words (captions)-and wanting to share things, food, life, love, friends, family, and self, regardless of whether it is for attention or not. Hence most females genuinely enjoy social media, where they can express themselves freely about things that matter to them.
I almost never use Instagram. I use Snapchat almost daily though because I'm always taking cute pictures of my pets and I feel the need to share them haha.
