I know I would have been before honestly when I was 16 or so. If I didn't look at least a 7 I felt worthless and didn't want to go outside (I'm not actually that pretty by the way, but I thought I was). So I understand but honestly a 6/10 isn't bad at all, it really isn't. It basically means cute or a little pretty to most people I think. you're still attractive. and you're better off than most people.

it doesn't mean people think your ugly but it could.

Either it means:
-your a 6/10
-your slightly more or less than a 6/10 (they could slightly round up your number to be nice but it's still objective. also people don't have the same notion of what a 6 is. most people agree on what a numbers means sort of, but not exactly exactly. just look at rating scales online or ask what people define as a 6. for some people 6 = 5 or 6=7. So don't be too caught up)
you're average (it's not acceptable to tell people they're average and people want to be nice but still kinda objective so that's one option. done this myself a few times too btw)
-your ugly (I've seen people, tell ugly girls they were like 6,7,8's all that to be nice so that's possible too)

Anyway don't stress about it, it doesn't say much about you except that your not an 8 or schrek or something.

Yes, I would be upset also. I feel that 6 is a pretty low score. I'd be sad after hearing that someone thought I'm a 6. But look on the bright side, that was only one person's opinion, so it probably doesn't matter very much. You probably look fine to most people and a lot better than average.

If the rater is actually being truthful, then a 6/10 would mean someone is above average. That's basically a bittersweet compliment.

Now of course I'm assuming you're American, and American culture tends to focus on trying to embellish positive qualities and tiptoe around people's feelings out of fear of offending each other. This means when using a 10-point rating scale, people are a lot more likely to give someone who's really a 1-4 a 5 or 6 while quietly convincing themselves that they're only interested in 7+. Physical attractiveness is also subjective since not everyone has the same standards.

Have you also ever considered how off-putting it would actually be if a friend of yours' that you've known for a while gave you an abnormally high score?

Why should we care what someone rates us as? Let them be. Just don't ever, repeat, never ever let yourself believe you're not a 10. The moment you do that, opens the door to why everyone else should also not rate you a 10.

Everyone has different opinions, and let that idea actually sink through. It is completely impossible to be beautiful to everyone, like actually, it's impossible. First of all, growing up with different parents, different cultures, different beauty standards, and the most crucial part is that we all just were born to think differently--you can't aesthetically satisfy everyone in the room.
Also, I kind of understand your point of view. I think it's fine to be upset for a little bit because, y'know, sometimes that stuff really stings. I understand what you mean when you have a high opinion of yourself, and then someone says you're a 6/10. But then again, it's only ONE opinion. When I say that beauty standards are vast, they ARE vast. People have completely different standards. Like, people may have leniency to different flaws, while others completely find them unattractive. Or, people may like a certain feature, while others just find them unattractive. Don't let it seriously get to you. I understand why you would be feeling this way (I got called a 7 once, and I felt pretty sad--pretty sure she was also just trying to be nice). I think what will make you more attractive, though, is if you were more confident and were perceived as more elegant.
I'm not joking when I say that those types of personalities and BODY LANGUAGE can really be a way to hide physical flaws and make you seem more attractive. Maybe watch for your body language on how to seem more elegant/confident, and you might see a difference in how people perceive you.

I've honestly never gotten the point of rating looks on a number scale, myself. Can I just say I find someone attractive or I don't and be done with it? Lol.

Anyway, everyone is going to have a different opinion of what they find attractive. What I might find as a hypothetical 10/10 might be a 6/10 to someone else, and vice versa.

I wouldn't stress about it too much.

As for your rating you just have to remember you were playing a game & one person’s opinion is simply their opinion & it may not be fact as well. On another note you were rated by one person & I wouldn’t let what one person said cloud up your thoughts. Everyone is not attracted to everyone else. My dad thinks my brother's wife is not that pretty, but my brother is attracted to her. Some numbering system is irrelevant as true attraction is based on pheromones. If someone is objective enough to number you they aren't attracted (move on). I rank women on levels of attraction, repulsion, or neutral. Some women I have absolutely no feelings, some I have strong or weak attraction, while others are repulsive or really repulsive. This is all independent of their pictures, some women have nice pictures whilst being repulsive in real life. This is part of the reason people look different in photos than in real life or how you notice them in real life.

If your friend's are guilty of anything it's that they accepted the terms of the game they were playing at the time. No a 6 means you have a little bit of physical charm that can be enhanced with good characteristics. There no point in worrying about the 4 gap, I'd be more upset if I was considered a 5 since I'd have no physical attributes to feel chuffed about in the slightest. 10/10 is also argued to be controversially biased compared to thr other ratings since no one is physically perfect. So in some cases your only 3 places away from being good damn looking.
