Why would a straight girl come to work on her day off to see the girl that her best guy friend thinks is really pretty?

Is this common for girls to do? Is it because she really just wants to see someone beautiful or she wants to check out if the new girl would fit with the guy or she wants to check out her competition because she actually likes the guy?

I am pretty sure that a large majority of guys would not come in to work just to see who his best girl friend thinks is handsome.
