Girls, why does it seem like most of you are into a lot of those true crime documentaries and such?

When I'm not watching kids shows with my son, I'm normally watching true crime shows.
I watch it to critique what the criminals did & see where it all went wrong for them to be caught. I also like to pretend that I could get out of whatever the victim got themselves into, but know I'd probably be just as dead as they are.
My boyfriend, on the other hand, says I like to watch them to perfect how I would kill him & not get caught 😂 he keeps saying I would poison him with my food & keeps asking which poison I would use 🤣 I keep telling him that IF I was going to kill him with my cooking, it wouldn't be with anything found in the house.
Plus I love him & my cooking too much to let it kill anyone!
If I was planning on killing him it wouldn't be with something that could get me caught by toxicology!

but I don't really know why, I like the stories, I like "hanging out" with those youtubers who don't know I exist and uhm I also like falling asleep to someone telling me a story and yeah
Also like you learn a lot, like some extreme red flags and well it shows the ugly side of the world, cause it ain't fair at all... I can't really explain, I just know 5 years ago I had some awful experience in life and youtube recommended me the tedx talk of Elisabeth smart and since her story, I'm hooked lol

My spouse listens to those sometimes. Says they're doing research for their stories. Joked to me one day they have a few early signs of serial killer behavior 💀... too empathetic to be one tho I'm not worried

I do enjoy true crime. 😭 I love watching YouTube analyses of trials and cases. I enjoy seeing criminals receiving justice and also it DEFINITELY makes me more aware of my surroundings and how vulnerable I truly am. Hell I even lick my bedroom door at night. 😂 I try to stay more vigilant and I think I've become pretty good at picking up on bad vibes.

That site was sooooo good, I pretty much knew a lot of serial k/ll3rs and other scary crimes. I don't know if it’s still active. I’m scared to check it out 🤣. yes Bill curtis is great by go to shows were American Justice and Cold Case Files. i like them because they used actual crime photos and footage. Cold case files was very chilling to watch at times lol

Eh I like them for the thrill and to see how much intelligence one has used in it (criminal and police both). Documentary movies are my second favourite after horror. I love thrill, that's it. I don't really see them as a women but as a true thrill seeker.

I watch them sometimes as a reminder not to let my guard down. They remind me that no one is ever 100 percent safe from harm, even when we might think we are, so even though they me feel paranoid sometimes they also make me look for red flags in various situations.

I use to like them until I realized how truly toxic and fucked up it is to enjoy them. The shows and documentaries are often dehumanizing and in a way making these horrific acts normalized. Not to mention they are often made without the victims families consent and against their wishes for the story not to be told.

Unlike real life where the bad guy isn’t always caught or sometimes even given a light sentence these shows can give some satisfaction in an ending where criminals are caught. And yes because most victims are women it’s very easy to empathize with them.

Oo that depends on the situation some don't deserve to be locked up but most do.
And omg you know what really drives me crazy is those ones that are still a mystery or cold cases like I wanna know who the murder is. Those type of shows lead me on for nothing 😕

There is definitely a lot more girls in the true crime community than men, at least from what I've seen. a lot of them seem to do it because it's informative and "entertaining". I started getting into true crime for safety reasons.
