Well it's a favorite saying of females. Absence makes the heart grow fonder for about a month, then when other guys start working on you, you'll forget the other dude and cheat. So short term, yes, long term, no.
It depends on who's not around, lol. If it's my boyfriend or something, absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder, for me. =P

Out of sight, out of mind. My boyfriend is away all summer, and I'm starting to think that he just isn't worth my mind. My heart is not growing fond of the fact that I haven't been able to kiss anyone in over two months.

Absence may make the pair yearn for each other more, but that level of abstinence may lead to hasty decisions. Best to be cut-and-dry in some instances.
This is why I can't do long distance relationships, out of sight, out of mind :/

Went through a long distance relationship. Missed him like crazy for a while...then, suddenly, I didn't. I think absence just makes the heart forgetful in the long run.
my vote was out of sight out of mind, but abscense makes it grow fonder if it's in the beginning of your relationship, when all you synapses are on full overload. it can also make you crazy.

Depends on whether I still love the person or not. If I still love her, I will pine for her until I am able to get over her.

yes being away from each other really does make you realize how you feel for your significant other
For me it seems like when I think I won't miss him, I do, and when I think I will, I don't. It's very strange.
it depends, on your emotional level with her to begin with
Depends on the girl, though most of the time its out of sight out of mind

Depends.
On the person and on the time you've spent before.
