Are friends who go after their friend's love interests insecure?

I have a co worker who literally starts liking every guy her co workers do - not everyone, but the ones that are around her age range, ethnicity, relationship status, etc

There was even an instance where this girl started hitting on a guy that i liked when i was her "friend." She would tell me what they talked about, trying to appear as if she's feeding me info when she actually was trying to show off that they had more of a relationship than him and I.

I told her off about it, thinking bc she doesn't and hasn't had much real friends that she might not know about/have that common sense.

But she's continuously doing it to others too saying "she doesn't choose who she's attracted to" - and its not a coincidence when its always the same guys (esp. when someone voices it out loud) that are not even the types she said she likes.

Why would someone do this? Is it insecurity? Jealousy? Or is she just a human that doesn't have what it takes to be a friend to someone?

I'm a dude... and I had a dude friend that would literally make up stories about chicks to get me not to bang them. He would always say that he banged them or got them to suck his dick and I'd just back off. I realized it was all bullshit and manipulation way down the road. He still makes up shit about chicks and it's been over 20 years... I don't know WTF is up with his mind, or why he feels these stupid stories are necessary... is what it is I guess.

That didn't answer the question, but maybe you relate to that situation.

I'm going to go deeper on this subject. The dude, my friend, I think he does it just so I don't bang even more chicks than him. We look like twins so, I basically can bang any chick he could get and vice versa. He's smarter than me though and I know it. Tricks me into not banging more chicks. Fucking asshole... stealing my chicks and shit. 🙁

These are great personally experience to share, it encourages me to go for the one I like stop asking others about it. The opinion of the person you like is more important than the others.

A real friend wouldn't do it at all. I wouldn't call someone that goes after my interest a friend. I don't necessarily think there is insecurities there but possibly jealousy. Sounds like they want what they can't or shouldn't have and that is part of the thrill for them. It is a shit thing to do to a friend. I wouldn't keep a person like that as a friend because they obvious only have only their own interests in mind.
